In a blog post, OpenAI said it was testing the capabilities of some of its most advanced models in a controlled environment but that the program managed to escape containment, reach the internet, and break into Hugging Face to try to satisfy its testing goal.

Hugging Face said in a blog post last week that it had been the target of a hack that was different from anything they had handled befor in that it was driven, end to end, by an autonomous AI agent system.

We see with the Mythos block that AI has begun to seem dangerous to the powers that be.

It's wild to see the HN crowd, bleeding-edge technologists, regularly bring up "lying flat on a table" as a critical feature for a supercomputer inside a camera that fits in your pocket.

Times is really not adapted for the web and is particularly bad on low-resolution screens. How many computer terminals used Times for anything but Word processing?

I have always assumed that this was done to drive app usage. Companies hope that if you use an app regularly you'll keep it on the home screen of your phone, and it becomes a foothold into your most intimate device.

You can see why planes stay in the air by sticking your hand out a car window.

If you know better contradict me, but:

An inclined flat surface will push air down, creating pressure below, and create an empty area above, creating a partial vacuum pulling up.

Airfoils are used instead of flat surfaces because they eliminate turbulence by creating laminar airflow.

Regular planes are not built for flying upside down and have airfoils optimized for regular flight — the airfoil section we're all familiar with.

At an airshow once, a pilot showed me that on a plane built for acrobatics, the wing section is vertically symmetrical.

I wondered once if it would be possible to ride a motorcycle safely if I drove carefully (everyone I know who rides has been in at least one serious accident).

I thought: I could look at the data, but I see so many motorcyclists driving dangerously that the data wouldn't teach me much.

So then I thought: I bet if I look at the accident rate for women riders it would be interesting.

I found that in the UK, male riders have seven times the accident rate of female riders.

So I guess how you ride does make a huge difference.

What does a white-tooth culture look like specifically? People brush their teeth in France, they have modern dentristy etc.

People who want to remove fluoride from the water should visit countries where fluoride is not added and look at people's teeth.

I live in France and it's just so obvious that people grew up without fluoride — even celebrities try to talk without showing their teeth when they're on TV!

I'm all for getting consent in most cases, but sometimes you'd have to be an idiot not to take the obvious win.

I don't believe this is the case — in the situation that is commonly referenced to make this point, someone sought to have an AI legally declared to be the author of a specific work, and that was ruled not to be possible. But I am not aware of cases where people use prompts to generate artwork with AI and have found it impossible to copyright.
