I used to feel the same way until I actually watched a Formula E race. The racing is incredibly close at times (I think last race had a 3 wide finish for the podium), and features like Fan boost make for a really engaging overall experience

Side loading on android is laughably easy, probably easier than installing a program on a Windows device. If we can consider the installers that Windows users need to use to get something as simple as Chrome installed easy to use, downloading an .apk file and opening it and pressing install should seem trivial by comparison.

Personally I use UnHook to completely hide all recommendations, merch/music/offers/etc. ads, replace the default homepage with the subscriptions page and generally clean the UI:

In addition, I use the Stylus extension with a custom stylesheet to restore the UI to the roughly pre-2016 look. This has allowed me to essentially treat my Youtube experience as a RSS feed viewer, which I feel is a much healthier experience.

However, by doing this you do lose out on the discovery factor that Youtube is known for.

thoughtful longer content

I think that's the important bit.

Long form content that is artifically long does exist (see the trend of making videos exactly 10 mins or longer to maximise ad revenue).

But on the other end of the spectrum some of the best content I've watched on YouTube have had longer runtimes than some movies.

For every thousand click-baity creators on video platforms there are always a handful of people producing truly thoughtful, interesting content.

Here at Discord, we’ve got a healthy blend of MacOS, Windows, and Linux devices. Some users are on portable laptops; some are permanently docked. Some are even on desktops!

Did you even read the article?

Whilst I agree that offfering a 15 minute video as an answer to a comment, with no timestamp/tldr for a quick answer is extremely inefficient, the video specifically states that you don't need to put on, as you say 'gazillion clothing' items, and the narrator in the video says that he only wears a jacket, gloves and a hat whilst cycling in the winter. The majority of the video is spent making the point that the barriers to winter cycling are not due to the cold, and more due to the infrastructure for winter cycling not existing in most places.
