I didn't question whether this book has worked for you or not, it's good if it has and more power to you.

It's about the reader's own attitude towards it. If you really believe in those passages (which, based on the passage, seem to be written like horoscopes) then of course they're going to work for you. Just like horoscopes magically seem to work into every situation.

In my humble honest opinion, advice like "I will persist until I succeed" just creates train wrecks. Especially when repeated 75 times in a month. I also believe that self help books like this one tend to cloud the reader's judgement and inflate their egos - which is not nice.

Why couldn't I just make a little book for myself that would include inspirational quotes from my own personal heroes and just read them out aloud them every day?

I mean seriously... That example scroll just seemed kinda tootsy wootsy, some might even say "gay", like in a harry-potter-fantasy-world kind of way.

I feel that some absolute time limits for napping is a no no for me. I grab my keys to my other hand and I extend that hand over the bed. It takes some time to get used to the idea of having the keys on your hand while trying to nap, but soon enough you'll forget you're holding the keys on your hand. Eventually you'll drop the keys at the exact moment you doze off and that's a clear sign from yourself that you've hit the time limit of a nap. There's no need to set your alarm clock for a 20-30min nap.

The alarm will inevitably go off during the wrong moment.

If you try to keep something in your hands (which will make a sound once fallen) you'll get the alarm at the exact moment you strive for.

Just answer to these questions in your business plan: -When can the VC expect profit? -What makes your team/product so special?

If you're going to make a business plan based on a template... Well... How are you going to stand out from all of the other templates?

I understood that he meant being in a bus/train/van-pool/subway/ferry. The point that I was trying to make was that trying to do "something useful" while commuting is, at least to me, pretty annoying - there's so much distraction going on around you that your chances of actually having attention to the task you're doing are slim.

And time without attention is time wasted.

Ultimately you might find yourself using 24/7 of your time in practicing things - and realizing that you've understood nothing.

And then you're ready to welcome the burnout

I highly doubt the effectiveness of polyphasic sleep. I myself found myself physically fatigued when I tried something like that.

So, based on my own (little) experience, my muscles need the long rest that a good night's sleep gives.

And doing "something useful" while commuting... Well ain't there a sure sign for disaster?

The cliche with a little snippet of code asking the audience to raise hands ("look at us we're such nerds!")... Tasteful.

They spoke a lot but said nothing.

Somehow it's funny to see how the audience might be a little more informed than the presenters... Especially the question at around 23:00 to me seems like a big "fuck you" to the presenters. The sigh at 23.22 sends chills through my spine as the presenter knows that he hasn't got any clue of how to answer to that nerd-question - but he won't be able to admit that because then he wouldn't be such a nerd he thinks he is.

We love Wal-Mart and Costco. They have the best prices on almost everything. We're not afraid to admit it; we think people who shop boutiques to buy the same things in fancier surroundings are stupid.

So you go to a walmart, see the elderly greeters at the door, feel sorry for them, then walk miles just to get the one thing and get back to the cashier to stand in a line...

vs.

You drive near a boutique, you get real personalized service, there's someone to help you all the time if you have any questions, the surrounding is a lot nicer, the whole process of buying that thing is much faster and much more comfortable.

Saying that people who shop boutiques to buy the same things are stupid just conveys a message that you are too constricted in your own scope of cheapness... And that's maybe a bit stupid.

If you're going to sell your work for free... Well, imo, you're making the market of web design worse for every player of that market, which would, consequently, lower the general bar among web design in the long run

If someone were to speak about the functionalities of the site called facebook - then would using the term "site" make facebook sound less serious?

Make the terms clear at the start of the discussion - argument why you're using a term application instead of a website.

Wouldn't that clear it up?
