Petit Computer has a function that allows you to share via QR code. Since the screenshots show that this is based on Petit, I'd assume that you have that in this as well.

Kinda reminds me when Kraft was about to acquire Cadbury there were thousands (Ok not literally but there was quite a bit of noise) of facebook groups saying that this shouldn't happen because "the chocolate will taste like dairylea cheese" as if Toblerone wasn't a thing that Kraft made.

It's funny how when there's news of a company acquiring another people think straight away that it'll change drastically and overnight, making the huge assumption that the company is A) going to change anything B) doesn't know that changing something will break trust with users making their billion dollar purchase useless.

Or maybe Yahoo will change things on tumblr who knows? I'd like Yahoo to add a feature to change your primary blog on tumblr. That would be nice to have..

Oooh actually look at the second to last point of NOTES and then look at DESOLEE. Of course 18th of April not in "1 hour" but still ;)

One bit I found interesting in NOTES was "avoid using pseudonyms". Could this be something to do with _why detaching from his persona for the last few years?

Whilst I'm kinda disappointed that my game (Space Ham https://github.com/dafrancis/SpaceHam) was 104th on the list, on the other I shouldn't really. I didn't spend much time on the game at all and although I could have spent time making the theme coherent and making a solid and fun/engaging game I ended up submitting what I managed to build anyway since at least then I would have something to show.

I also took part in Fuck This Jam (http://bmo.fuckthisjam.com/) in November which could also explain my lack of effort. Since I did the mistake of "not using a game engine" or "not knowing how to do graphical game interfaces" my games tend to look rather crude and mspaintlike. I did learn a lot about canvas though in the last month so it wasn't all for nothing.

Github Gameoff and Fuck This Jam were the first time I've gone and participated in a jam on my own. I've learned a lot of things and I think I will be better prepared next time I decide to partake in another jam. Perhaps I'll take a few art lessons as well...

Favourite is one of those weird features on twitter I rarely use. I suppose the idea is to use it like a "like" or "+1" button but I find that "favourite" is too strong a word. There's been plenty of tweets I've seen where I think "this is a good tweet but I don't like it enough to RT it". I mean I liked the tweet but I'd never say it's amongst my favourite tweets.

To be honest I don't think this will stop trolls, or at least not the ones that actually believe what they say. There will be still some trolls that will fill in the correct word in the captcha and say stupid shit in the comment. Asking for someone to think morally for a brief second is not going to stop people. This is "just another captcha" to most.

I don't think it's effective against bots either. If a bot can read the three options it has a 1/3 chance of getting it right (assuming that the bot would choose randomly). In fact from the sample captcha it looks like one of the words is not like the others and therefore you could possibly eliminate that making it a 50:50 chance (again assuming it picks it randomly, that there's an odd one out, and that the odd one out is unrelated to the text above).

Although, I suppose that the idea of the captcha is to show awareness, rather than actually stop spam or trolling. It's neat, but not a great spamkiller.

So wait, you got offended by someone because their post implied that you didn't know how twitter works? That's pretty funny. Also, when did mild animosity get associated with "average 4chan behaviour"? 4chan is not the birthplace or the only place where people are immature on the internet.

So ok, you probably don't have a twitter account. Ok, you're one of those people that prefer RSS feeds for everything and you know what? There's nothing wrong with that. I mean you could use the twitter api and get the rss feed for it (http://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/user_timeline.rss?screen_n... would be the one for this particular twitter account) but that's not the reason why you don't like this format.

Apparently the reason you have such reservations for this twitter account is because there's a "lack of context" or "140 chars is too limited". With the lack of context I agree it's a bit of a problem but It's not anything that a simple google search can't find. Plus, in many cases you don't need any context. These quotes can be self contained without knowing when and which thread they were said. These are quotes which are likely to pop up in any HN thread.

As for the "limitations" issue, I don't see the problem. What do you expect? A huge essay on why a quote is silly? As far as I can see, the format that the creator has chosen and has displayed works pretty well. I can't think of anything else that could be added to it or any problems coming from this because of "limitations".

The twitter format doesn't work for you. We see that. That doesn't mean that this is a "poor execution" and that it could be improved. Not everything should be the most perfect execution. Sometimes something as simple as a twitter account works and it's clear that from some of the posts in this thread, that it works fairly well.

Does making a new account make them any less wrong? You really just dismissing something someone said just because they're new? Protip: Let that sink in for a moment.

I don't know. Skimming over this blogpost made me think "Why should I use go?". I'm not even a PHP guy and this isn't even convincing me. What hope do they have to convince a PHP guy.

I didn't see any code. Sure there's a link to the "A Tour of Go" but if I was a PHP guy I would be confused by the syntax. No semicolons? Ok that may be an advantage (I'm also fairly sure you can add semicolons to Go and it wouldn't care).

I dunno, there wasn't enough here explaining why I should use Golang instead of PHP. I didn't like the way it was formatted. I didn't like the rhetoric.

I am one of those strange people who prefers to watch videos of a language or a web tool working and found http://ftp.heanet.ie/mirrors/fosdem-video/2011/maintracks/go... which seems to go through some of Golang's features. It's a little longer than that blogpost but it's a little better with convincing me to use Golang.

I'm currently reading "Design for Hackers". It's an interesting book and with some parts it's made me think differently with how I see things.

I know a lot of people will probably dismiss "learning how to design something" as "don't try it" or "if you're coder then you're not going to get it" but I kinda disagree. It doesn't hurt for someone from a coding background to learn about design or to try design themselves, or at least know what makes a good design. Even knowing just a little bit could be beneficial.

That for loop looks pretty neat, however I don't tend to write loops that often on the command line so it doesn't really benefit me that much.

Erm.. ok? If you don't mind me asking, why would I want to look at that? I can't really tell what it can do for me other than "make zsh more awesome". How? How does it make it more awesome?

The problem I have with zsh is that I don't really notice any benefits from it after switching from bash or whatever. I guess my problem is that I'm still using it like bash, which probably isn't a bad thing but I'm probably missing out on the other features it has.

Thing is there's no real feature I've noticed that made me think "Wow! How did I live without this?". Yeah I see some nice things but they feel like party tricks rather than game changing features.

I dunno, maybe I'm not seeing the big picture here. Is there anything out there that'll show what amazing things that zsh can do? Like is there anything out there that could make me stop using it like bash?

This is probably the smuggest smug piece of smug literature that ever smugged. Like I couldn't read through this properly; the smug was hurting my brain and making me forget how to read. The whole blogpost read like he just got in an imaginary argument in the shower and won it by being as condescending as possible and throwing down those putdowns as he did just then.

The only way that this could have been better if it was a facebook screenshot of him replying to someone who's upset with acquisition by writing a large essay about how "GPL will literally kill your family" and other ad-hominems, and then top it off by liking his own comment.

Great news everyone computers were used to do that thing that everyone's talking about! Aren't we so cool that something we talk about everyday is used in other things? I just get so excited when I think that the little machine that I've got on my lap now could be used for amazing scientific discoveries. Nobel Prize here I come!
