If someone takes a loan out against an unrealized gain, that should immediately trigger a tax event.

The real solution though is for the legislative branch to not be beholden to those same people and be able to quickly and effectively close tax loopholes as they are discovered.

For me, the biggest pain point is the way it decides which window to bring to the front. If I minimize a window, and then click on the application in the bar, it won't show the window just minimized, instead it always seems to show the older window. Really annoying when using an app with many windows

If trades were batch processed say every 5 seconds, and randomized in the case of ties would that solve the fastest connection issue?

Modern commercial aircraft is designed to operate on a single engine through all modes of flight.

One a plane reaches v1 during takeoff, it can lose an engine and still takeoff.

It an engine was lost before v1, the takeoff would be aborted.

Because the large corporations have virtually unlimited power to water down bills with campaign contributions. It takes very little to money to sway a representative federally. How much less do you think it takes to sway a state level candidate?

Spending cash on candidates to prevent bills like this is likely a rounding error on their yearly budget.

I think we are probably somewhere near the peak of inflated expectations.

We are on-call for 48hrs at a time, about once every 12 days or so, one day as backup, and one as primary. It's nice because it doesn't interrupt your week too much. The downside being that complex issues might require extra work while not on-call

Have them project an imaginary line from where they stand and in the direction they are facing. Have them mark the numbers 1 2 3 in the ground as they walk forward. Now have them stand facing the number two. Now you say if you are standing left side of the line looking left to right the numbers would go 3,2,1 if you are standing on the right side looking left to right the numbers would go 1,2,3

Edit: it's a bit silly though, I think if they could understand our language well enough to convey complex scientific ideas like an atom and its size, then smart people could probably find a good way to convey direction

I thought about this for a bit. One easy to use explanation for left and right is a number line. Smaller numbers are on the left and larger numbers are on the right. It's still an assumption that alien species would count that way.

A Google search shows the Embraer Phenom 100 (5 max passengers) has a max takeoff weight of ~5 tons, it's operating weight though is under 4 tons. So it seems reasonable that the smallest class of jets could hit that weight or close to it

In VT though its really difficult to become a lawyer this way, as an existing judge or lawyer has to be willing to apprentice you and prepare you for the exam. You also still need a 4 year degree to enter the program.

If you read the bill it states that a shop must "Possesses a valid and unexpired certification that demonstrates that the person has the technical capabilities and competence necessary to safely, securely and reliably repair consumer electronic equipment in accordance with widely accepted standards, such as a Wireless Industry Service Excellence Certification, an A+ certification from the Computing Technology Industry Association, a National Appliance Service Technician Certification or another certification that an original equipment manufacturer accepts as evidence that the person can perform safe, secure and reliable repairs to consumer electronic equipment that the original equipment manufacturer makes or sells".

If you read the bill, they clearly differentiate between a service provider and an owner. The bill does not require an owner to be certified to purchase parts, manuals, tools or make repairs. It does require the manufacture to make those things available to both.

The bill clearly defines an independent service provider and an owner as different entities.

I read things differently. Several sections clearly reference the owner of a device. For example under section C part i

(C) Makes parts available directly or through an authorized service provider to: (i) An independent repair provider or an owner at costs and on terms that are equivalent to the most favorable costs and terms at which the original equipment manufacturer offers the parts to an authorized service provider and that:

the word owner shows up 17 times in the bill, and seems to give the same rights to an owner, that an authorized repair shop has.

Not only that, you can't just have one DBA. You need a team a them, otherwise that person is going to be on call 24/7, can never take a vacation, etc. Your probably looking at a minimum of 3.

That goes back to the trust of his people.

He has to trust his CTO (whatever that title is at boeing for their top engineer manager) to be the judge of that. The incentives have to align wrt quality engineering for there to be trust all the way down to the junior most engineer.

I think the MD merge gets the blame by many, however, it seems as though the shift in the market that started around the same time to optimize shareholder value at all costs is really to blame.

Does the CEO need to know these things? I would argue no. What needs to happen is the CEO needs to listen and trust the technical people that report to him.

There is a misalignment of priorities that will never be fixed as long as the primary incentive for the CEO is to maximize shareholder value. If you remove that, and force the primary incentiven to be safety over profits, the rest of the business will follow.
