I'd be happy if all ads became served from the same domain, an integral part of the page (no popovers, popups, focus stealers, etc) and not-dynamic. That would remove 90% of my objections to them.

Third party ads with javascript can and have been used to introduce malware, through deception or zero-day/drive-by exploits, even on otherwise reputable sites. It is for that reason that I block ads.

Exactly right. People _steal_ recyclables in my area, too, and many Progressives seem fine with theft and the unreported income that results. We have many other criminal acts (which have been caught on camera) associated with this, including rummaging through cars and package theft.

When "three strikes" was foolishly overturned by pro-crime Californians, the amount that you have to steal to be charged with a felony also increased. So people can steal items from cars and doorsteps, in addition to recyclables, and never have to worry about spending a day in prison.

Mac LCD monitors have a LED back light that's too blue and too narrow a gamut to do color grading. Yes, it's true that some of the early CRT machines were capable of this.

Real "creatives" _never_ preferred Macs. Mac, until very recently, didn't have any way to calibrate a monitor (and you had to buy a 3rd party monitor to get a full-gamut display), or 10 bit/channel color. For all our color-critical work at our shop, we _never_ used macs.

As she appeared to be a non-technical person mysteriously employed by GitHub as some consolation to some organization (IIRC it was called the "Ada Initiative") I realized that github is no longer a technology company. Interesting. For projects that don't need a "community" we've been using Amazon CodeCommit.

We don't like to use Github anymore because of the politics there. Example: We had a project involving software filters that included this sentence in the description:

Phase is related to time, but a pure time delay does not involve any phase shift. A pure time delay or "group delay" is constant with frequency. Phase shift varies with frequency and can advance or retard as the frequency changes.

We got a note from a woman who works at github who was apparently scanning open source projects for "offensive" words. Our project was flagged for the use of the word "retard".

We removed our project and never used github again.
