Is Okta supported for auth, and how does bring your own cloud work? Can you limit it to only being able to deploy certain things, within a particular VPC?

I have exactly the same experience, usually after 3 years I'm desperate for new Mac but right now I genuinely think I'd prefer not to change. I have absolutely no issues with my M1 Pro, battery and performance is still great.

I had the opportunity to try this last month, it worked really well!

I expect the majority of people really aren't bothered about this though - just a vocal minority, so although maybe a bad ad for some, I expect the benefits of the publicity of this ad far outweight the downsides.

I wouldn't have paid any attention to a new iPad launch or known that it was the thinnest one yet, without this 'bad' press.

If anything, I'd say I'd be more likely to purchase a new iPad as a result

I personally like brand names that _look_ like they could be words, but aren't like Spotify, Twitter, Monzo, Reddit, Google etc.

Believe they need to be short and easy to Google even if you don't know how to spell them (not saying the above brand names are perfect). Find it annoying hearing Xero having to be spelt out on the radio to stop people going to zero.com.

Not particularly a fan of combining two English words together like Facebook, Freetrade, GitHub etc. but the worst is when companies try to own a common word like Apple.

What meaning do they infer?

Are you in the US? I'm in the UK and have had an ad for it in the Google app for a while, but it always errors when I tap it on my phone.

Believe it's US only which is why it won't work, but would love to give it a go. Did try a VPN but no luck still!

What's the general consensus on Obsidian?

I've been using Notion on/off for a while and remember reading a lot of people were migrating to Obsidian as I believe it had two features Notion users have been begging for if I remember correctly - offline mode and encrypted at rest (although I believe Obsidian is self hosted?)/

I've tried moving to Lemmy, but as you've said it's less populated, significantly less from what I've seen. Almost to its detriment.

What makes Reddit great is the niche smaller communities and the historical data they have (despite the search being awful). Lemmy sadly doesn't have this, small and even some big communities aren't there - wallstreetbets for example. Even subs with 100k+ users have low hundreds of members on Lemmy.

Seems to have recovered for me now.

Yes, to be honest I think they should be banned. Only post mirrors of the content bypassing the paywall.

How much is it costing you out of interest?

I don't think they should - I'd be happy if they served ads over the API. I use a third party app because I prefer the interface, not purely because it's ad free although that is obviously a nice benefit.

I wouldn't personally pay for Reddit Premium so if ads are the only way to keep third party apps viable then so be it.

Hey Alex, this is really cool. I've used ChatGPT quite a bit and Stable Diffusion in the past but still feel like I've only scratched the surface of what's possible. Great to see lots of projects popping up using the tech in new innovative ways!

Please could you give an overview of how this actually works? Have some ideas of where the tech could be useful but not sure how I'd actually go about implementing it. Do you have a GPT model on a server and code to transcribe the video then summarise the transcription. Or do you use one of the APIs from OpenAI?

If you use their APIs:

* How costly has it been to run your service? (If you don't mind answering)

* Is it customisable? If you wanted to run a chat bot for example, would you be able to make it understand the request (I'd assume something similar to an 'intent' when developing Alexa skills) and give it data so it knows the answer?

Sounds a little invasive asking for the login?

If that's genuinely what they do, would be nice if Apple implemented a police version of 'Find my Friends' to let you give them permission to track the device rather than the password.

I've started to 'learn' the ChatGPT tone (you can even give ChatGPT some text and ask it if it thinks it was AI written). Now I know the general structure and language it uses I've been spotting it all over Reddit, HN and some blog posts.

I have noticed it makes me get bored of reading content, and I start to skim through it assuming it's just AI generated waffle.

It's a DJI Mini 3 Pro. Never had any experiences with other drones, so can't compare it to others - but I love it!

The new DJI Mini 3 does look good too if you're on more of a budget.

I have a DJI Mini 3 Pro, it has a feature called Active Track[0] where you highlight a subject on the screen and then select how you'd like it to follow you. It can go alongside you or behind you - can follow things like cars too. Despite the sensors, it can be a little scary getting it to follow you when there are trees or telephone lines nearby, but in a lake or the sea it should be great. There are safety features where if it loses connection to the controller it can hover in place, land or return to home (where it took off from).

Yeah, I have insurance with 'Flyaway Coverage'. Still have to pay a fee and there's a limit to the number of claims you can make over a time period but it's a lot cheaper than buying a new drone.
