One of my gripes with iOS is the ability to select a default maps app. It bothers me that when I try to share my location through iMessage, it forces me to view the information by opening apple maps and you cannot copy and paste the location into another mapping app. I believe this was a terrible strategy to get users to use apple maps.

Venezuelans mining bitcoin isn't a good way to solve their inflation issues, because bitcoin has lost its value much faster than the the Venezuelan Bolivar has lost value, at least the bolivar is significantly less volatile than bitcoin. That doesn't mean bitcoin can't be stable though.

I think Conway's law is something important to note in this context, where there are benefits to running centralized businesses over decentralized (ie communication). Decentralized communication between people is a problem itself, namely, decentralized decision making and the speed at which decision are made.

The whole regulatory framework behind cryptocurrency is a mess. IRS classifies cryptocurrencies as a property, while SEC classifies some as a security. Which only makes it harder to regulate. Problems like these need to be solve in order to help the ecosystem mature in a sustainable way.

This isn't me. But there is Paul Erdős, who made great contributions to mathematics. He was known to use amphetamines regularly. He even made a bet with one of his colleagues on his amphetamine use, betting that he could give up amphetamines for a month. Sure, if we accept the idea that traffic congestion increases, but I don't think that it will be the biggest problem because with current forms of congestion it becomes frustrating because you have to pay attention to the road and operate the car, while alternatively with a SDC, that'll no longer be the case and can actively engage in productive activities (or not).

Project: Building a custom email service allowing users to send emails from their own domains, looking into eventually reinventing the modern modern email UI.

I wanted to originally create my own private email server, but realize I had the option to allow others to use this. I also got really frustrated with the current way email UI worked so I'm working on revamping the UI to something more modern.
