It doesn't need them, it parses SBOMs and manifests from their ecosystems. I think you misunderstood this section of the README.

Nice idea and really polished look.

Nit: clicking "Create X" to add a new tag seems worse than pressing enter to create one as you have to go off the tag menu and back onto it to create or add another, but it's not necessarily clear that you can press enter to create one.

This is probably intentional -- if you want to fix a typo or make something clearer that you've already captured you likely want to preserve the original timestamp?

If you want an entry timestamped to your current time, you can make a new entry.

I wouldn't say you'd only learn specifics of the frameworks. Maybe if you only submitted 2 or 3 PRs, but that's not what parent is suggesting: 'start contributing heavily'.

Scary. I saw a tweet the other day from a job seeker who had been sent a repo of seemingly trustworthy code. The sender claimed to be working with a team that was hiring, or something along those lines. Of course, one file deeply nested within the folds of the project contained a block of obfuscated JavaScript designed to grab as much data from the job seeker as possible and transmit it elsewhere. Had the job seeker run the project without reading through it first, they would have been in hot water.

You can imagine some variant of this attack including a carefully designed Emacs Lisp payload, which the unsuspecting and desperate-for-a-job victim might open in Emacs. Surprising that the Emacs maintainers didn't fix it as quickly as you'd hope.

TypeScript sure, but Rust? Half your brain switched off? There is a middle ground between unfettered madness and the Rust compiler's strict regime. Maybe try Elm.

Faced with a good deal on something they thought would be useful (and fun!) for students I guess they didn’t dig very hard for caveats.

Our teachers were just as intrigued and excited as we are when they saw games running on the calculator for the first time, and from then on just told students off for getting sidetracked by Super Mario on a case by case basis.
