But to buy that home/land from the previous owner you have to sign a contract stating you can't leave the HOA and that when you sell you only sell to those who will join the HOA and contract.

This goes back to the construction company/realtor investing to build the entire suburb and putting down the roads and such.

From what I understand, when they plan to land on the Moon or Mars, they won't have a flame trench setup (on the Moon/Mars), so it needs to be able to land and take off from the ground.

Would it be possible to construct a file/system encryption scheme where you have a read-write passcode and a read-only passcode? Such that when given the read-only passcode it would allow (legal/valid) searches by law enforcement, but not (easily) allow fabrication of evidence by planting incriminating files?

I suppose you could make it part of a signature scheme for files (file written by passcode X) so that your defense could point to the discrepancy in your favour.

Don't get me started on the original (the later omnibus is way better) official english publication for Inuyasha... even ignoring flipping the reading direction and not updating references to which hand someone is using (so referring in text to a right hand, but visually a left hand) the amount of translation errors and swapped text bubbles was just maddening.

Heads-up, if you still have a Minecraft (not Mojang) account, then you will need to log in with your username, not your e-mail address. This stumped me for a bit when I just (successfully) resetted my password, which was then promptly rejected at login when I used my e-mail address as username.

Luckily I could guess my username...

You're forgetting 'legacy' devices, as in, older than a couple of minutes. I maintain an application that is used in primary education in the Netherlands, and the oldest device thus far with issues is an iPad4 with iOS10.3, which the school only invested in a couple of years ago (I don't know any further details). And in their infinite wisdom Apple fixed the safari version to the ios version, and no alternative browsers allowed. /rant

CORS is only applied to javascript, not GET requests via img, link or other tags that load resources.

It has happened. :(

I thought I had messed up a 'do not notify' setting. But it was just poor timing on my part.

Likewise, e-mail is my 'to-do' (or to-watch) queue. I mean, I have a day-job, and notifications on android are rather ephemeral and disorganized. One wrong swipe and everything is gone. I haven't tried those on desktop, I only get them when on YouTube, still doesn't feel useful.

With the knowledge of the current pandemic situation, perhaps the concept of 'party' and/or 'invite' is a wholly alien concept to the people of the future with access to time-machines. And assuming a similar reaction to current archeology for things they can't explain better than 'artifact was used during religious or reproductive practises' and didn't consider attending.

I wonder, is it possible to create 2D holograms? That is, a sprite, or a hologram that looks the same no matter the angle?

My usecase would be a set of parentheses (as in XKCD #297 "These are your father's parentheses, elegant weapons for a more... civilized age"), or perhaps even dragon balls (the star formation are supposed to look the same no matter the viewing angle).

But I suspect that the interference pattern would in that case interfere with itself down to nothing.
