I operated N4BB.com, which was one of the largest BlackBerry fan sites. We had many insider contacts and broke many large, exclusive stories. Fun times. Miss them.

Unfortunately, the way Mike Lazaridis was depicted in the recent Docudrama about BlackBerry it wasn't too far from the truth. They really believed Apple was lying about an all-touch, physical keyboard-less phone. Following the media buzz about the iPhone, Verizon put a lot of pressure on RIM to release a competitive device. The half-baked Storm 9500 was so rushed it released with a non-touch optimized OS that was hardly responsive to the piezo screen. Not to mention the bezel had such a gap around it that pocket lint often got stuffed in and under the screen, preventing the physical click. Sad.

Compounded by other failed strategic decisions/devices such as the PlayBook tablet and refusal to pay triple A developers to port their apps to BB10, it was a nail in the coffin by their own doing. There was such a hierarchical structure that completely stifled innovation.

A bitter-sweet story indeed.

I've got a couple of side projects that I've built primarily out of the necessity for them to exist. I'm deeply in the red and who knows if I'll ever get in the black. They have taught me a lot along the way, which if in the end is all that I've gained from them, then so be it.

// CoinFundIt -https://coinfundit.com

Decentralized, open-source, non-custodial, non-KYC Bitcoin and Altcoin crypto crowdfunding, donations, and atomic swap exchange.

It's built as a native reactJS web app. Also working towards iOS/Android apps. There is also a mirror of the service in IPFS and Tor.

The value proposition from the likes of GoFundMe and other services is that CoinFundIt allows uncensorable funding. The payments are directly paid out without any intermediary gatekeeping. We'll see if it ever catches on and helps folks who might live under a totalitarian regime.

// h4x0r army - https://h4x0r.army

I'm deep into infosec, cybersec, and hacking. I'm also a huge supporter of open Web and the fediverse.

Recently, I've spun up a Mastodon server which can support thousands of active members, for the purpose of building a community for hackers and other technologists.

The server name is sort of a joke and my admin account as well is for humour. As "1337 h4x0r" is an obvious joke at this point.

Along with real tips and news, I'll sometimes share memes and funny videos of pretend 1337 hacking. Nevertheless, registration is open, so all are welcome!

Thank you for the ability to share my side projects, cheers.

I was thinking the exact same, but with Cloudflare Pages in order to use the WAF to see if it may help thwart any PHP-related vulns

Although the extensions will install, good luck getting them to work properly. Even the ones that the browser recommends to install, they are extremely buggy still. I hope one day they’re able to get extensions working better.

No? I’m saying it’s better for them to stick with Cloudflare for those reasons including government agencies being able to better monitor them for illegal content, despite my personal dislike of that doxxing site.

The way that Cloudflare works, it likely provides an ability to exfil and track active visitors to the site for three-letter agencies. Forcing Cloudflare to drop them might push them to use non-US services like what happened with 8chan and might not be the best move. Either way, these sites that host ilk always find an anti-DDoS provider >:(

Exactly. The reason they’re called “influencers” at all is because their purpose is to influence you, whether with an idea and/or purchase decision. Any part that’s entertainment is just an add on.

The entire trend originated from Instagram where people would show products they “use” as part of sponsored posts.

This level of hollowness is part of the cause of the downfall of streamer Ninja. The originality and audience were neglected for profit.

Paywalled so I couldn’t see what startups were mentioned.

If you’re on macOS and/or iOS, I’ve been testing out the browser Orion from Kagi. It’s not perfect, yet. Though, I see the merit in a privacy-respecting WebKit-based browser. It’s a good working beta at this stage.

They’re doing a more unique method to thwart fingerprinting. And I believe they want to eventually build out variants for other platforms. It could be the next best alternative browser in the future.

This is good advice. Thank you. I hadn’t considered possible (radiation?) interferences from my tech devices could be disruptive to my focus, alertness, etc. Not to mention, the overload from social media. Although, I don’t use platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat. So, those sensory bombardments would be limited. Ideally, the more holistic approach is what I’m after. But, if that’s not possible, then my options are with what I wrote.

How could I lie my way into passing such a test with my doctor? I’m not sure why you’re slugging such baseless accusations at me. And the fact I’ve repeatedly said I am questioning even resorting to Adderall is proof enough against your defamatory comment that I just want “to get drugs”. I’m genuinely curious how others who do have prescriptions for such medications are fairing.

Not trolling. Just asking if others have used them. I’ve met with my doctor and took an ADHD test to see if Adderall is right for me. But before I start taking a pharmaceutical, I wanted to get opinions from others who have. Coffee no longer helps me stay alert or focused. So, I’m wondering if other ADHD suffers have found success in such medications.

Yes, that makes sense. I probably should consult a nutritionist or someone first before turning to pharmaceuticals. Thanks.

It does seem like those who use Adderall/Modafinil are increasingly switched on. It’s tough to compete against them.

Though, maybe that’s a short-term effect and the overall byproduct in the end isn’t worth those short gains.

It shouldn’t unless your mobile carrier is detecting and blocking it for some reason.

But, use Session app instead. No email/phone for signup, and your messages are onion routed through community nodes. Check it out if you haven’t already at getsession.org
