KILO - the text editor implemented in under 1000 lines of C (hence the name) has been ported to Riscyforth, a Forth for RISC-V SBCs and similar running Linux. The Forth port comes in at 1377 lines, perhaps reflecting C's greater expressiveness (things you never expected to type!). Is anyone out there using Forth for serious projects still, or is it strictly for vintage enthusiasts only?

Epiphany did indeed tape out at 1024 - which is why there is the acknowledgement that large scale manufacture of such chips is probably perfectly possible. But Epiphany never went to manufacture, which is sort of the point here.

If you read the paper referenced in the article you will see it comes from the formula used there to define the Pareto frontier of CPU performance.

Because the BBC is paid for by people in the UK and we are at least entitled to be told that the ruling has no impact here and, in fact, there are no software patents (at least none that are legally enforceable) in the UK.
