Ask HN: How does your startup hire technical people?

We are at a stage where we are trying to grow our engineering team - we have a number of interesting technical challenges that we work through together with our candidates, while at the same time having a focus on their personality to try and asses if they would also be a cultural fit.

I am interested in finding out what other start-ups do when it comes to hiring technical people and what are the key points they try to take away from both technical and non-technical interviews.
