Often these sorts of "safe way to keep food" articles focus too much on repeating what the recommended advice and not actually looking at why. This one does a decent job, especially compared to most, with attempting to explain why or go over certain scenarios. In particular, the bit about how long the eggs stay of a certain grade in different conditions was great. Still, it lacks any sort of measure of what the actual risk is. E.g. if I walk outside every day my risk of getting skin cancer is actually higher, and it's easier to explain why, but that isn't solid reasoning on why I shouldn't walk outside. Not that I think you should leave eggs unrefrigerated, but if you're going to write an article about why you should it should talk more to what happens if you don't than divining the right message for the readers to take outright.

This is addressed in the article. The cuticle does nothing to protect against foodborne illness, and will likely degrade before you get the eggs home.

I raise poultry. I do not wash eggs and store them in the pantry. I even incorporate raw eggs into some recipes (e.g. ice cream).

The risks are overblown for healthy birds raised in clean conditions. If you can verify those details, you likely will not have any problems.

Otherwise, yeah, always refrigerate store-bought eggs. They have been washed and the conditions of the flock are unknown.
