Aks HN: You Can't Have Both
https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=36548639I started a new gig. The manager told me from the get go that they want to establish a more professional approach to how the company developes software.
Things like review of code, ci/cd, less waterfall etc. You know things that has been pretty much defacto standard since ~2012.
Now the other day I said "let me review John's code before he checks in".
Manager said "good idea but I don't want to stop John's progress, so let's not review this time".
You can't have boundaries which can be easily jumped over. You can't have both - fast and quality.
Now what?
