Other article from the author include (title only) "Why Biden Favors Foreign Over American Oil", "Why The Woke Create The Disasters They Warn Of" or "Biden Is Failing The World".

Substack claims this person as "thousands of paid subscribers". I am fascinated by that.

It's Shellenberger so you can safely assume most of the blog is ranting about how the woke leftist cultural marxism blah blah blah. Red meat posting for people with the same priors, nothing of substance worth analyzing for certain.

There are serious academics and serious politicians and serious activists doing serious, non-infantile work to fight - and advocate for solutions to - climate change.

The infantile throwing milk at a famous painting stuff is just what drives clicks and what the media pushes and what the masses click and talk about.

So if you want to blame anyone, blame the public for caring more about infantile climate activists than real ones or blame media or its incentive structure for showing them on the front page instead of IPCC reports.

Really misguided, unneeded, and dare say I, infantile article Mr. Shellenberger. In giving further attention to the infantile people, you're just amplifying their signal and making the signal to noise ratio worse.

Blame the public

In business, the customer pays, so the customer is always right. Similarly, in democracy, government is of by and for the people, so the public is always right. So no, don't blame the public, never blame the public, if you blame the public you deny the premise of democracy.

(Unless you don't support democracy of course, which is a legitimate position to take but you should at least acknowledge that that is what you are doing)

I think a part of it is they never get punished.

Nothing effectively happens to stop these dumb trends.

They need to get kicked out and humiliated for destroying public/private buildings, otherwise it's only going to get more popular.

I also think this also applies to the crime problem in the west.

Indeed very serious politicians signed up to the Kyoto Accords (etc, etc) which are (and obviously were at the time) toilet paper.

If you think artsy food-fights are as tough as this fight is going to get, I'll take the other side of that bet. I don't advise, say, building crossbows out of old car leaf-springs and using 3D printed arrows to shoot out RV tires; but I do see it coming, sadly, and plenty more. Acts that will be far from infantile in their effects. I won't be doing it, I won't be helping it, but what I also won't be is surprised.

Ya want infantile? The average Canadian voter when polled before the pandemic said that the climate had to be saved but that they would pay no more than $20 a month to accomplish that. That's truly infantile, worthy of a two-year old's mind.
