Ask HN: Why are there fewer low-income families living in U.S. cities nowadays?
https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=33135487I just finished watching a movie that was based in one of Hong Kong's most densely populated districts and it struck me that there really aren't cities like that in the United States. Based on the little history I do know, it seems like New York City used to have a pretty large population of lower income families.
I don't know if there are any good materials to read up on this, I honestly don't even know where to look. I'd just like to learn about what changed policy-wise, culture-wise, economically, etc.
