$11,900, not including battery. You can buy a finished LS long block for the same price making the same power that weighs a small fraction of what a 300-mile-capable battery pack does.

EVs are going to remain the punchline of jokes to enthusiasts until batteries don't add an extra Miata's worth of weight.

I know right where to put that. GM class c with solar panels. Sure it will take a week to get a miles worth of charge, but still, your range will be infinite.

optimistically, 1KW of solar on the roof will yield 35kw per week which will just about charge a 700lb leaf battery. I know my truck will go about 2 miles on only electric up to 20mph even with a 3000lb trailer at about 0.5 miles (1kw battery, 35kw motor) before the gas kicks in.
