Ask HN: How do you praise an open source project?

After using a particular feature of an open source project today I found myself wanting to offer some public praise to the project maintainers saying how useful that feature is.

The only option I could think of to do that was to open an issue in their issue queue which seems a little off, so how do people here offer praise?
