i use 4.6 and i've configured advisor to be on 4.7, so, when something's more complex the advisor can help. at least that's how i do with claude code, not sure of the others have implemented the concept of advisors.

i quite like you idea. floppies are pretty easy to destroy, especially by kids. i wouldn’t trust that to last that long.

They surely can and this has been done. On one the flights that I took with Turkish Airlines they had a few video streams from different sides of the airplane. One was from the top of the tail and you could see the entire plane.

it's more like short term gain vs long term gain. experienced engineers can design an architecture that will allow you to scale cheaper and faster in the future, at the high initial cost. it will be cheaper to maintain, better for security.

that is totally not my experience. you don't have to buy the latest and greatest, I've bought a V8 a few years ago. it does it's job perfectly fine like in the first day. it's the only vacuum (of the ones I've owned) that is capable of cleaning the cat hair from my sofa. maybe there are other products capable of that now, some years have passed, but the quality of dyson is pretty top notch.

Infomaniak did request my personal id or passport for creating a company account. I'm not going to provide any extra source for you, this is what happened to me, you can either believe it or not.

That has been obvious to me after they requested me to upload my passport/id in order to unblock the newly paid and created account. But that happened only after the payment page, of course.

I'm a little bitter, but for what I need it, I'll let it pass this time.

edit: it is a business account, but I have never been asked for this anywhere else. you have all the company required data, all my required data, why do you need my id? maybe personal accounts are treated differently.

Yet, my mother and my grandfather participated in the Romanian revolution, where real bullets have being shot against the people. those places are nice for vacations, but without denser apartment buildings the city tends to expand a lot horizontally and after a while it's very expensive to have a decent public transportation system. it's mostly impractical for large cities to be built this way. i've seen very few cities that managed to make this work.

thanks, i researched into this and bought a boox go color 7. now i can have both the kindle app (for books i can't buy anywhere else or already purchased) and new books outside of kindle app. bonus, it has text to speech which kindle doesn't really want to let you do so it won't lower audible purchases. not the same quality as audoble, of course, but free.

... but this does not replicate the kindle one-stop store experience. and looking on the kobo store doesn't help either, i wanted the experience for someone who actually migrated from kindle. i may find the books i'm looking for now, but what are the struggles for people who actually used it? do they come later than kindle, are they using multiple shops, etc.

edit; yes, i know about the pirating options. i'm not talking about those.

my biggest fear from moving out of kindle is losing access to the store. they did a good job securing most of the authors and books.

For DDOS there was and still is Prolexic/Akamai. Cloudflare did not made that market, they just took a big chunk of it. There are other big players too, like Google.

what a convoluted way to say you do not agree with this. when you are dealing with people of all skill levels, every step that you put on the development process costs real money. over that, not everything is and has to be open source. we all have source code that is proprietary and has a value for us as it is. making that decentralized and private is not something easy to achieve (and I don't really see a benefit). the problem from my point of view is that we have a single player (github) that managed to attract a huge percent of the market and the competition, while it exists, it's minor.

I was in the same place and I found a solution that works for me and it almost made me totally quit Instagram (the thing that was taking my time). Set the notifications to be shown on lock screen only for critical apps (phone, sms, etc) and configure the others to just show badge counters. Now, at this point you have red bubbles everywhere, for this issue (on iOS, but I'm sure it's a solution for Android too) you apply a shade for all the app icons. It's a feature that came with iOS 18. Even if this seems small, the fact that you don't see them all in red, makes a huge difference. Now, I only look when I want to look.

same thing worked for me. on iphone, ios 18 introduced a way to apply shades to everything, including app icon and notification counters. since i made the entire thing darker, i've stopped using instagram. i couldn't believe that such a small thing could do wonders. probably the same thing can be achieved by disabling the notification counter, but i think it's better to have it when you want to look for it, but make it not pop out into your eyes.

i was in that position of receiving a negative feedback over certain things from one of the people i manage (and i believe any manager has been at least once). surprise, i’m not perfect :-)

the best way to tell it is to be direct, with examples. i want to know that, i want to improve myself. i only expect perfect honesty.

it’s good for both parties. i’m a no bs guy. tell me things straight, good and bad, i will do the same always in a fair honest way. i expect nothing else and there are no repercussions for that. in the end, if you are unhappy and you do nothing about it, nothing will change.

i'm building a low volume product. if you add the cost unfortunately you will see it's impossible to do something of good quality and low volume with much lower price.

you don't only add the sum of the electronic parts, but materials, r&d, payment for the one who does the assembly, marketing, taxes & accounting, shipping package, refunds and defects, payment for someone to produce it or the usage of your existing equipment, etc. if you add all of these, you will see that it's not cheap.

i tried to use it a few months ago for the real time share of the screen. it didn’t work and also the files were not syncing with the service i am paying for. it wanted an update, but the update failed each time.

after digging (which is something i shouldn’t have wasted my time on), it seems that it lost the correct time because i didn’t power it for a while and there was no way to set the time manually. because of that, the signature for validating the firmware update was failing (it uses the time).

there was nothing i could do. it fixed itself few days later, after i gave up.

this is still unpolished so many years after the first release. i’m not sure i would recommend it to anyone. i’m sure i will trust it to work next time i will give it another chance.
