You can invent whatever moralizing obligation you want, but I don’t think it’s reasonable expect an organized effort from the {$outgroup} community to defend the rights rights of the people who designated them the outgroup.
It’s pretty common practice to capture system images from returned employee equipment when they’re fired for cause (at least in the US). But it’s also pretty common for technicians to be forbidden from browsing those files without a very good reason.
The problem with opposing civil rights movements is that reciprocity matters in the real world. People are disinclined to support your rights if they see you as advocating against theirs.
I suspect China is overestimating the strength of their hand. Their economy is dependent on foreign corporations voluntarily choosing to manufacture there. If they start acting like a third-world kleptostate, they'll be branded as unreliable business partners and have to go back to sorting trash.

What even happened? The ship wasn't in Russian water, so Russia claiming to have fired on it would be admitting to a Crime(a).

They're not running out of people to employ, their product (working in an Amazon warehouse) sucks, the market knows it, and Amazon is stuck with the excess inventory. If they want to solve the problem, they can improve product/market fit.
A lot of people were told their jobs are nonessential and the public debate was about whether or not they deserve assistance with basic survival needs. If it were me, I’d be doing everything in my power to never be in that position again. I suspect that’s part of what’s happening.
If past efforts are any indication, whatever regulatory scheme they come up with will cost these companies a good deal of time and money without doing anything to effectively solve the problem.

Are there any sources more credible than the US military reporting these phenomena? Until there are, I’m assuming this is just a ploy to get funding for some new asinine weapons system.
Is there any primary source evidence of this or is this reporters reporting things reported by other reporters? The former would be incredibly compelling, the latter would lead me to question the reporter’s motives.
