While I agree that this type of online content is questionable for the reasons said in this thread, the 'dehumanized' moniker is clearly sensational. No-one in that video has been dehumanized. This is rhetoric and nothing more. A person received an unsolicited gift and was filmed. If it was in a location where there is need of consent to be filmed by another party she can file a lawsuit. If it was in a location that doesn't require consent then them is the breaks and viewers of the video can make the conclusions of motives and ENDS for themselves.
Being a free speech absolutist has nothing to do with consequences from invoking your free speech. Everyone wanting free speech despite what type of speech that they legally allow is the price we pay to have it. Invoking it and using ignorant, racist or hatefull language doesn't mean you won't pay a social price for it. It just means we won't throw you in jail using the state for it. As said in other comments, not a power thing. Example, the Nintendo Wii U chose to use 3 1.2ghz (iirc) Out of Order execution cpu's that were more like a PC than the cores in the Xbox 360 even though sounding similar in instruction set and composition.
This lead the Wii U to be able to do things like Run Mass Effect 3 and Deus Ex better (arguably) than the PS3 and 360 most of the time. The Wii U was probably the better hardware platform in hindsight but it came too late and the development tools were not as robust so ports just kinda afterthoughts.
If Twitter wanted to solve the problem they would have. Simple as that. Elon is the one who is putting his money where his mouth is to get the company to tackle the issues plaguing the company.
Windows default went over to UTF-8 from UTF-16 a few years back so its probably alignment with them especially with MS now rolling their own linux and java.
You are not entitled to play games or buy platforms. It is a net negative for the gaming industry to be limited in their revenue streams. You cannot split the baby because some customers CHOSE to buy PS5 but the game THEY want to play is on Xbox. If they want to play it, buy an XBOX too. If that is too expensive, the gamer should increase their disposable income.

Yeah most of the PHP hate came from old school PHP 3 code co-mingled with HTML 2/3 that didn't take advantages of the simple OOP added. PHP 4 took decent steps but couldn't shake that stigmata. PHP 5 and some good MVC frameworks (written in 4 and 5) made great advances and 7/8 and the spinoffs make the language pretty good for any scripting or web job. These days I prefer JVM based languages but if I needed a quick web task with minimal overhead PHP would still be in the top 3 options.
But some old timers (genX) still today bemoan php as if it had no progress made.

Try moving to VSCode on Windows, see if you can re-create your workflow there using plugins.
Then, if you are successful, port your workflow to VSCode running in Linux.
If portability/battery longevity and a high resolution is what you are after, there is always going to be a tradeoff. The monitor on my new laptop is 165hz IPS sRGB and I couldn't care less about build in monitor only doing 1080p vs Retina/4k. But I am willing to get more of what is more important to me vs what apple offers. If I get an M1 it will be a Mini, not a laptop. And if I need 4k I just output to an external monitor in docked mode anyways.
Trying to find a cheaper apple quality device that is as good... you'll really be limited to the cheaper Yoga 4k screen models and their ilk. But I have no experience with those devices.
I just got a Lenovo Blue Phantom w/ Ryzen 5800H and 3050TI for 999 USD. 3.2ghz 8c/16t Ryzen 3. Feels amazing even with Win11 on it and I am going from a Dell G3 i5 9300H with 1660TI QMax and its a very tangible feeling upgrade. (even if the OS is a downgrade lol). I did have to do 40 USD memory upgrade to get it to 16g Dual channel so 1039 USD + tax so there is a hidden extra cost there. Or you could do a 32gb upgrade kit instead and sell your 8gb stick.
I don't think the GPU is much of an upgrade, but it does have tensor cores, the better video encoder (could be an OBS monster) and I believe better thermals. I am sure putting Pop!_OS or Manjaro on it would make this a great *nix platform for developers, content creators or streamers.
That might be the worst analogies I've ever heard. Humans extracting value asymmetrically out of captive humans has nothing to do with new syntactical features and/or sugar of other languages that language developers are inspired implement to implement in their own language because they solve modern workflow. And those developers are well compensated for for their contributions being by monetary, notoriety or self satisfactory means.
Gosu's roadmap... copy .NET and Groovy
Kotlin's roadmap... Copy Gosu and Groovy
Java's roadmap... Make Gosu, Groovy and Kotlin redundant by supporting the idioms of Gosu and Kotlin eventually and force those languages to 'nativize' their underlying implementations.
Manifold's roadmap... Ditch Gosu on the JVM and make a java library, copy all the stuff Java doesn't' have a plan for like .Net's (and by extension Gosu's) class extensions and java 8 to 9 workarounds
We could go on and on. Nothing new under the sun. Great minds think alike and at the end of the day the value of delivering a product is what matters in the end.
Mustard was my go-to condiment. I loved Dijon and stone grounds Dijon's. However, I lost my taste and smell in 2020 due to Covid-19. When my taste came back everything was fine but my smell didn't return for months. When it did, MANY things have an acrid taste to it. Dijon mustard, Pepsi, Coke, even Iceburg lettuce in different cuts (shredded is fine but in whole leaf I have issues) all taste the same and its so acrid that I can't touch the stuff any more.
Bog standard French's Yellow Mustard still rocks even if the taste is a little dulled due to my new smeller.
So the story is a bitter sweet for me... almost literally lol.
ES is practical if your use case supports it. I think you only need to look at Citibank's success post 2008 banking crisis to see the successes they've had as a company. When their developers were touring the No Fluff Just Stuff events in 2015-2016 showing their work and how much they were giving back to the projects they were using really puts a stick in your wheel.

That is like asking a Spring Framework developer using all those juicy annotations the reason they do it vs rolling their own in pure 2006 Java code.
Knowing how to do it vs using a higher DSL is always going to be nicer especially to gain new users. Look at the sega genesis/mega drive SDK. Many 2020+ Sega Genesis/Megadrive games are built using it. It is C. Why not use 68000 assembler like every developer before now? Documentation, ease of use, community, cross domain developers can pick it up easier...

I mostly agree with the overall tone of the article but I do have to point something out:
It is baffling on many levels to me. First, I am not an application developer and never have been. I enjoy writing code, mostly scripting in Python, as a way to reliably solve problems in my own field. I have very little context on what your application may even do, as I deal with many application demands every week. I'm not in your retros or part of your sprint planning. I likely don't even know what "working" means in the context of your app.
The point about not being in retros or part of sprint planning... I take up arms against that. I've worked for companies that have gone from waterfall to hybrid agile because we cannot get buy in from Ops to actually... you know... come to our retros, sprint planning and scrums.
Some things in this article is just pointing out the obvious... mediocre developers who push their problems and/or lacks on other teams. However, that quote the Author needs to look in the mirror. They exist only because of the products offered by the Company need resources. They have a responsibility to be business partners in that. If they aren't the company needs to re-align some priorities and it could start with Ops. Ops doesn't get a pass in an agile organization. The whole point of agile is to destroy them ivory towers. And if they were in those planning sessions, the developer might have already gone over the type of destructive testing that would have emerged from that collaboration and their DevOps relationship would be even richer.
Well, honestly, Apple already did the hard work years ago when they created OS X itself based on NextStep and used a derivative Mach microkernel. Now, Apple ofc has pushed a lot on top of that but that is platform specific so they call it a hybrid kernel but this is the true legacy of Steve Jobs.
This allowed them to have a pretty tight product line using similar OSs with different user spaces and those needs. It isn't revolutionary on a technical front, that is what all that work was working towards at the colleges that developed them. But it was in fact forward thinking from a product and pricing perspective that a company would make a bold move and incorporate that when we had a lot of PC companies sticking to one arch ride or die style at the time.
My 386SX 33mhz SMT was in a Victor 300SX which is a rebadge of the Tandy 1000 RSX that had the SMT 25mhz SX. Victor was sold by McDuff's, a subsidiary of Radio Shack.
It barely ran the Doom demo but it did run. I ran OS/2 2.1 For Windows on it too at one point but eventually I build a home built Cyrix 486 DX40 that ran OS/2 Warp and Dos games like Doom at blistering speed.
You couldn't run OS/2 2.1 on a 286 at all back then.
I think the biggest issue of the 386SX was the data bus but I enjoyed my time with it. It is a bear to get modern storage to work with my Victor where as I see people with 286s on YT adding all sorts of modern goodies custom made for classic computers. It makes no sense why my Radioshack motherboard has problems with new modern tech and the 286s that I have seen don't but it may be due to bios issues. Atleast I had upgraded my 107mb hard disk in the Victor to a Maxtor 540mb drive and it worked with the software Maxtor had iirc though I lost the ability to play games if I was using MSDos at the time because it took too much HiMem.
Those were the days. I really was stretched trying to get things running on that 386SX other than productivity software for Highschool...
PS... My Highschool had IBM PS/2 Model 30's and 40's with Microchannel buses. So we couldn't sneak upgrading our PC lab computers with Joystick boards. At least we could learn Turbo Pascal.

Couldn't you say the same thing about conventional CPU's and the ability to create RNG's before ERATA show up by the vendor or found by groups doing deep dives on how correct the hardware RNG is? Or any other issue in a mainstream CPU?
It isn't like we've not seen bugs show up in hardware and software pertaining to RNGs or other types of math related issues. Why should we not give the same benefit of the doubt to Quantum compute services by credible compute providers? You should know you are in for a 'as correct as we currently understand it' system provided to you. That has been the case for decades. This all reminds me when the Pentium 1 FDIV defect showed up. Today, however, we've abstracted that to compute hosting providers and we have less tech to qualify our results against.
