I am amazed at people's willingness to use Grok. The company is so transparently morally bankrupt. They're the only AI company that seems okay with CSAM (or at least don't do as much to stop it)

Ehhh in my experience compliance auditors are 10 behind the cutting edge. I still see auditors that don't understand Kubernetes and so ask the same questions they would about on prem machines. They don't know the questions to ask to get to the real meat of the risks. This leads them to allow things through that probably deserve more scrutiny. I bet the same thing will happen with LLM tools like this. They'll just ask if you use PRs and wave you on through.

Docker seems like a pretty low complexity way to create an isolated environment to run automation.
I've always thought that there should be mutability of objects within the function that created them, but immutability once the object is returned.
Ultimately one of the major goals of immutability is isolation of side effects.

I think the M1 was a pretty huge innovation. It's the first time a laptop felt portable and without compromise. I can get a full day of work out of my laptop without plugging it in. It's pretty wild.
Before this laptops were simply things that were small enough that you could carry one from point A to point B, but they were still effectively tethered to a wall and desk for any non-trivial usecases.

I just ordered by first 3D printer, I'm not normally sensitive to air quality issues, but my partner is, so I spent some time doing some research on the issue.
It's amazing how many people believe "if you can't smell it, there's no problem" and quite incorrectly assume that things like PLA won't hurt them. Surely minimal exposure is fine, but 3d printers run over many hour periods and those VOCs can build up.
I decided to be safe and bought a basic fabric enclosure with an exhaust fan that vents to the outdoors. It's probably not perfect, but maintaining negative pressure inside the enclosure should remove most particulates. I wouldnt handle bromine in it.

I worked on tooling for a fairly large JDK based monorepo using vanilla gradle + some custom tooling. It worked well until we acquired companies and became more polyglot. If I were doing it again today I'd probably go with Bazel
The best thing about waymos is the screen that shows the machine vision and object identification. It sees all the cars, bikes, pedestrians, buses in a full 360 degree circle around the vehicle. It can make good predictions about what each one is doing.
This visual makes it clear how much better it is at driving than humans. There aren't blind spots, it stops at stop signs, it doesn't dangerously speed around corners.
Human drivers create a lot of dangers for pedestrians and cyclists in the city.

I believe that the conflict over masks stemmed from a fundamental difference in perspective.
Masks work great at blocking transmissions even if the fit is bad, much like covering your mouse when you sneeze.
Masks CAN work great at blocking absorption if fitted properly, but thats hard to do correctly
If you are a fundamentally selfish person you only care about whether masks prevent YOU from getting COVID, you don't care about spreading it.
If you are non-selfish, then you probably care about both yourself and the broader community well being and are not only concerned about catching covid yourself, but also spreading covid to other people.
I think its hard for these two groups to interact because there's not much common ground.
I would argue that if you only care about your own risk of catching COVID and don't have training on N95 masks, then the argument that masks aren't worth the hassle is probably right.
