That's great for investors, but the benefit to employees is minimal. No, free snacks don't count as a benefit lol.

This seems to be hard for some folks to understand. Allow me to simplify.
Fuck snacks. I do not care about snacks. Take them away. I won't complain.
/s or...?
I make my own coffee at home and bring it in a thermos. Office coffee sucks almost by definition.
Throw out that crappy "perk" and pay me more money.
Not true. People have been migrating from place to place for all of recorded history. Cultural homogeneity is nothing more than a "good ole days" fallacy; it's never really been a thing anywhere, except in the most remote parts of the world.
How has the sovereignty of your country materially benefited you?
Process them and decide what to do on a case-by-case basis. "Catch and release". Just like we were doing. It was working very well and it was humane.
There was never really a crisis until we created one.
Oh well, if men can suck it up and deal with it then women can too I suppose.
comedy is getting hit in the nut sack + time
You don't need to read much ancient literature to know that beards have always been associated with manliness. Going out on a limb here, but my guess is that's because typically only adult men can grow them. Shocking I know.
Anyway, it's not particular to the Renaissance at all.
...which they'll be able to afford, since they sold their house for 1.2MM.
Assuming they're not legally separated and the kid is under 24, yes. Happens a lot actually.
I don’t agree with free educations—psychologically I think it devalues education.
There are good reasons to be against free college, but this is not one of them.
Even assuming they still owe the full 250k, that's almost a million dollars in equity. They could easily afford another 1.2MM home if they sell.
In that case they have a paid off home with 1.2MM in equity. They can definitely afford college.
Eh, if I made 250k/yr I bet I could make it work, especially considering it's only a 4 year obligation.
You have a lot of options at that income level; even if I couldn't come up with 60k/yr straight cash, I could finance part of it over a decade or so any hardly feel it. Also, my kid can take on 20k or so their damn self so they have some skin in the game. 20k is nothing.
It's pretty hard to sympathize tbh, when I've had to work with waaaaay tighter budgets than that for extended periods.
I mean, if I give you a voice recorder, let you record secret stuff on it and give it back to me, do you really think it's reasonable to expect me to never listen to it under any circumstances? Really? It's not a technically complicated thing to think through is it?
Victims are free to quantify their damages and sue FB.
They're still, what's the term Zuckerberg used? Dumb fucks? Yeah that's the one. They're dumb fucks.
"I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die."
A 3% yield on $5MM is $150k/year forever. Most people would consider that more than a "modest" income. Especially when you don't have to work and can live in a low COL area.
No. People who rent are not homeless. That's ridiculous.
This kind of semantic babble only serves to cloud people's judgment. For some people, owning makes more sense. For others, renting makes more sense. Not sure what is hard to understand about that.
Nothing is permanent. The end game is death.
There's no way to objectively measure happiness, so no that hasn't been proven.
Personally, I've found having a kid to be less stressful, less expensive, and more rewarding than my college/career experience. I'm happier now than I ever was before. Yeah it's hard sometimes, but what isn't?
Not saying that it's the most important thing one can do, but it's at least as important as making money for other people as some career schmuck. Which is what most work outside the home boils down to.
A lot of people aren't leaving home to "follow their dreams", they're leaving home because there just aren't any jobs there anymore. Jobs of any sort are scarce outside urban areas.
100% agree, both as a pedestrian and as a driver. RTOR introduces deadly ambiguity in exchange for marginal convenience. It's not worth it.
I would like to be able wait for the light to change without feeling like I'm being an asshole to other drivers behind me.
When's the last time a CEO was "laid out to dry" by investors? Are there really enough activist investors to do that? Most people just sell their shares if they aren't happy with results.
not affect the bottom line numbers
That's probably the one.
Lincoln's position was that slavery was OK, but should spread into any new states
He may have taken a more moderate stance for his presidential campaign, but for most of his political career Lincoln was a hardcore, outspoken abolitionist. Nobody at the time seriously thought Lincoln was OK with slavery; that's why southern states immediately started seceding.
It's not insane, and it's not a new idea. That's always been a right you have as a shareholder in a public company.
And you don't vote by selling your stock, you vote via proxy ballots. Which too many individual investors don't do.
