I see where you're going here. It might help if we construct a specific syntax and grammar for writing specifications for software. You might look into 'Data Artist'. It's a small but growing profession that's a bit of a hybrid of data scientist, data analyst, data journalist, and visual designer.

Frontier charges you a router rental fee even if you don't physically possess the router. They'll waive the fee temporarily when you decline the router, but eventually it comes back and becomes immovable. And, same day isn't necessarily the best solution. For example, Oregon does vote-by-mail. This process would make it difficult to allow for same day registration. But, Oregon also has nation leading voter turnout. No polling places, no hassle, just an envelope in the mail.

Huh. I worked at an office with dogs for ~4 years and never experienced pooping or barking problems or heard rumors of such issues.

The biggest problem we had were allergies. There was an eventual compromise with dogs only allowed in specific conference rooms that had air purifiers running.

Pi-hole will also catch all kinds of tracking and analytics requests that are sent via your mobile devices, non-browser apps, etc. There's a whole lot more of your data leaking out into the world than just the stuff that comes and goes via ad networks.

Yes, it's an issue and there's nothing a pi-hole can do to solve the issue. YouTube is the most notable server of ads from content servers, but one can imagine more content providers following suit eventually.

However, you can have your pi-hole up and running in a few minutes and enjoy excellent network wide ad blocking for virtually every service that isn't YouTube.

This will almost certainly never get implemented because the community has a more or less accepted workaround. Run more than 1 pi-hole.

It's a common-ish practice in the community to have a restrictive pi-hole running in your guest/kids network and a more permissive pi-hole running in the trusted/adults network. Pi-holes require so few resources and maintenance that it's not much burden to run more than one.

Yes. I haven't run it personally, but I've seen lots of positive stories over on /r/pihole with people running pi-hole on reasonably sized SMB and EDU networks.

You might consider adding a VPN tunnel on top of that setup so that your DNS isn't just hanging out in the wild for anyone to find.

I'm a long time pi-hole user and follow the subreddit and discourse regularly. You'll find many a pi-hole user with whitelists. The following are pretty common.

I have ~2.2M domains blocked. There's just no way that I wouldn't have false positives in that big of a list.

Setup a VPN tunnel for your DNS traffic and benefit from your Pi-hole wherever you go. I use Tasker on Android to automatically detect when I'm not on home wifi and then trigger OpenVPN to connect to my home VPN for Pihole and local network access.

Yes, but also less so every day. Google has already figured out that they should serve Youtube ads and content from the same servers to limit the ability of DNS based ad filtering.

DNS filtering is a cat-and-mouse game that DNS filtering tools will eventually lose. Don't get me wrong, I love Pihole and have used it for a while, but I know that I'm on the losing side of this battle.

That was my first ever exposure to programming. I installed as many of those crap ad bars as I could on a backup computer and wrote a macro that would open Internet Explorer, browse thru the same 10 sites in a loop, close IE, repeat.

This setup provided enough income to cover the costs of my dedicated phone line and ISP access.
