The whole article shows what happens when there's no economic growth: people eat themselves. The woke stick is used very well by younglings to smack old people.

These younglings will be experts at leaving no trace. After they have passed though an institution, will anything of worth remain?

Soon it will be standard MO for people in high position to use attorney for any communication. Saying something yourself, showing some personal facet, even a joke, is a dangerous thing.

Society is now a dark forest. Shh, be quiet.

Last I checked a heat pump is considerably more expensive than an air conditioner. And a regular air conditioner can probably only heat when the outside is not freezing.

I would actually want to get a heat pump but it's basically prohibitive. Would be nice to replace them with a "cheaper" air conditioner unit.

I did not see this play out. Geek bonding did not happen as much and faded after school when everybody was getting enough geek stimulation at work.

I've seen a great female gang from the University. But they were from random classes and the group held because they made quite some effort to maintain it.

I doubt colleges need to be kept for the friendship angle.

I'm sure you are right about what you said, but the whole tone and field of photography reminded me of a photograph we hired.

He imagined himself as such a great artist that although doing work for hire was afraid we might use our personal family photos without giving him credit.

In the end... he sent another team to do our photographs and wouldn't even give the ~20 "edited" photographs except as a flash EXE.

I'm a programmer and I know what copyright is but that photographer was deluded.

I see it the other way around. The "movement" does not exist without RMS.

FSF itself is pretty woke nowadays so they have diluted and taken their mission in another direction.

As for the RMS attacks, he did the heresy of thinking out loud on a private mailing list which do-gooders promptly leaked and framed.

Your whole question is silly. He's not 'recuperated' since there's no authority to decide this. It's kinda hard when you replace institutions for woke mobs.

The forcefull and quite frankly agressive way you denied ever having a problem with admiting mistakes makes me think that there might be something to this allegiation.

This is some amazing mental gymnastics! You should get into politics!

Maybe Samsung does not have a problem about admitting mistakes. But a problem about admitting mistakes in their problem admitting mistakes procedures. It's always the meta-problems that get you!

Again, this above comment shows people can twist anything into anything and will just stick to what confirms their bias.

There is a logic here that's visible with salary talks in the EU: people only care about what they receive, not taxes; so all salary talk ignores taxes, all raises ignore taxes, all tax increases are irrelevant as long as they get in-hand the same amount. This is basically a population that sees taxes as magical money only the employer pays.

People should definitively understand how much taxes they are paying so that they demand some accountability for their money.

How do you accomplish that?

Maybe I'm too naive, but what's NFT have to do with it? Couldn't they send any crypto instead? What does it accomplish?

I never heard of this usecase, which makes me believe it's too convoluted to be true.

Epic Games was forced to pay Apple $6M because between August 2020 and October 2020, their direct payment method (on iOS alone) took in $12M.

Of course, Apple felt entitled those $6M were well deserved given the "curation" they provided. Plus exorbitant download fees or something. Sigh...

Anyway, 2 weeks is not pocket change.

They have like 100 people in Prague, another 100 in Munich and then 1000 in Russia. Safe to say they are a Russian company with an EU "presence" for tax purposes.

It's amazing how much people will close an eye if they like the product!

JetBrains should be boycotted too.

The article is a bit embarrassing to be honest. And framing the thing to remember it forever?! Move on, person, move on.

I would kinda not want to deal with such an attitude as an employee or as a partner. You are not Steve Jobs man!

Though, not many companies know warranty. Only Amazon and sometimes Apple gets it right. Sometimes!

That's a very... generous take.

On my 1st London iPhone dev meetup there was a single representative from Apple: a biz dev guy! He asked a single question, when I commented the review process is annoying (compared to anything we had back then).

So, in retrospect, Apple encircled the whole ecosystem from the get go and wanted 120% of all the money that could be extracted. And they executed on it rather flawlessly.

I assume you didn't write SVGs by hand for 10 years.

Publishing open source is like me publishing only the binaries of my tool and thn saying because it's free it's also 'open source'.

So, assuming you used some tool (Photoshop, Figma, etc) to export to SVG, open source would mean you publish the original files too.

This is more of a reason. I've never heard of somebody writing software alone for 10 years and the releasing it.

If anything open source should encourage early open sourcing, doing work in the public, accepting contributions, etc.

I think it's more like a shareware, ie. not open source.
