People shrugged off all the anti-Asian rhetoric pushed in American politics for the past five years especially the last year. Now we have major increase in anti-Asian hate crimes and attacks including one mass shooting. I guess the Asian-American community should continue to shrug it off, as you say.

He seems to be lumping in all outrage as the same. People being outraged at Nike doing something is the equivalent to voter rights being taken away because certain people of a certain race vote a certain way. These things aren't remote the same.

And his idea that political parties should "work together" often means you're negotiating the rights of people, who neither party member usually is part of, either to have more or less rights, and you're negotiating them like they're bargaining chips.

I disagree. I learned so much more in college and it opened me up to various fields I would have never even thought of. I had truly no idea about sociology, psychology, or philosophy before entering university and needing to take them to fulfill my general education requirements. Those classes opened my eyes up more to this world than anything before or after taking them.

Not to mention, this work isn't technical in nature. It's very quick to pick up, probably more so than landscaping tbh.

If they're pushing it this far back, I don't think we'll be seeing them in 2020 either. 2040 goals are feel good goals for today but are nonetheless meaningless.

Boston's public transportation developers are great at what they do. Their v3 API is extremely good. And that's why Google Maps and all the other transportation maps for the Boston area are very good. The map and transit app developers can only do so much themselves.

Something no one has said which probably should be mentioned is that programmers today are just not as good as programmers of yesteryear.

They already do this with everything else. Vehicles like Mercedes and Tesla are significantly safer than some competitors. Legislation sets the floor, not the ceiling. Or at least it shouldn't create a ceiling.

I think the difference is those are, for the most part, internal safety features for the car's driver and passengers, whereas self driving effects mostly people not in that automobile. Sure, there are some features in cars that aren't, but for the most part, a driver knows (should know) their vehicle, and someone driving a 1978 station wagon and someone else driving a 2018 Volvo won't make that much of a difference on the roadways. Driving a car with a bad autonomous mode vs. a car with a good autonomous mode could be a significantly bigger difference for pedestrians and other drivers than older and newer cars.

Because we don't live in an economic system that allows for it. Amazon and every other capitalistic enterprise always cares more about profits than the wellness of a city. "If we do it, someone else won't, and they'll win!"
