I'm a big proponant of the idea that what we really need is more valuable shit to do. Higher demand is part of this, so Keynesian approach would help. But we really, IMO, just need more things that we value enough. Higher demand for quality goods is a start. Buying locally made items, paying for better artists, engineers, scientists, etc. We need more projects.

Space program helps. Smart housing programs. Railroads. Microgeneration of electricity, etc.

You are literally the first person on the internet I've ever seen to believe this. Everyone either doesn't know the concept at all, or knows it to be more or less exactly what open source people say it is. Its been well defined since my beginnings in the AOL cd era, pay per hour 28k modem days.

Its not just Foss people, its common knowledge among technical people.

I changed my thinking on this after playing the game democracy 3. There are lots of ways to dramatically decrease co2 production, and a lot of ways to keep production minimal.

My favorite strategy was changing spending to subsidize rail over roads, subsidize and market bicycles, and push for electric cars. Not directly applicable necessarily, but the number of things that have lower co2 production as a side effect is pretty large.

Not necessarily. Golf is a very highly white dominated sport. This I'd not because of racism by anyone choosing golfers for tournaments. Its note likely in my estimation to be because of subcultures that can afford and do promote the game. Basketball is fairly popular in inner cities, is cheap to play and become good at. Golf costs more money and has a long history among more country club culture. Demographics alone if those groups could drive the apparent bias

Depression and anxiety are by definition not ideal physcological health.

And almost no ones social needs are ever truly completely met. we also know already that social support helps anxiety and depression regardless of whether it is a root cause. So your test wouldn't falsify if it returned a negative value, nor support with a positive correlation.

Social security number is step 1? Then you likely have bigger problems then your gmail. If your in a position that this actually is a big problem, get a private email server and gpg.

This article started badly and went worse. Needs a LOT of intellectual rigor.

Evolution hypothesis wasn't tested, study wasn't very useful at disproving anything or solidly claiming anything. A life well lived I believe has been solidly shown vt philosophers to have little to do with happiness, and "priests and novelists" is just silly IMO. They have no say whatsoever.

So its safe to ignore literally every claim of evidence in this post. That said, it is an interesting hypothesis. I can imagine being a loner and being intelligent could have many bits of positive feedback between them.

The story is that the last piece of advice jobs gave tim was to do what he thought was right. I don't think he's trying to be a martyr or anything, but I bet he's trying to do what's right in the situation. Knowing they'll fight this sort of battle really had me considering apple products again honestly, and I gave up that train long ago.

Had an indergrad ecology course to teach me this. The first 4 labs were plug and chug equations sampling a square with computer generated randomly placed dots. All we had to do is get a sample (we could choose the size), and figure out a 95% likelihood that the correct number was within our range. No one could do it for 3 labs, before he told us how. Good samples are REALLY important, even under basically perfect conditions.

I have a problem when people call tax burdens fair. There are so many ways to define fair its rediculous and has no solid meaning.

Also, on that note, its not logically possible to tax a business alone. Any tax a business pays must by necessity be passed on to consumers, else the company goes out of business. You can get around it by only taxing profits, but then you open the giant loophole of all value that's not profits, like capital, income, tax free expenses, etc. There is no "fair" way to do that makes everyone happier.
