Whats wrong with its GDP? The PPP per capita is right around Sweden, a little above average for a first world country. Why should it be higher?

I agree that internet should be much better than it currently is though, yet still far from bad. Australias internet made me really sad when lived there... maybe everything feels good in comparison to that.

"but I really didn't mean to harm people"

More like didn't mean to get caught. Terrible person.

Write every day 12 years ago

Everyone is different. Most people don't feel the need to be productive and improve every hour of every day.

My co-workers are all nice and fun people, I enjoy working my 7-8 hours a day. But when i get home I don't want to keep working, learning new work-related skills and such, I haven't contributed to open source projects since I started where I'm working now.

I couldn't be more happy about how separate my work and non-work life is, I have a ton of fun with my own hobbies during my free time and have no stress whatsoever. If you are very ambitious and have large goals, of course you do have to work hard for it though. That goes without saying.

That's just sensationalist clickbait. The whale species hunted are not endangered and there is no ban on hunting these whales. There are many species of creatures which actually are and which you should spend more time caring about though. These whales are not among them.

Thats what it seems like to me too. Can someone explain how this is not just another slacktivism thing? Hashtags and banners on a website...

"passion never fails"... you are being incredibly optimistic and have heard way too many success stories i think. There's a massive amount of passionate people working incredibly hard for many years straight who haven't achieved even medium amount of success.

Google in 1998 13 years ago

You cant be serious. I mean, it's nice that duckduckgo tries, but compared to google their "innovation" is basically non-existent. The amount of special cases and functionality google has added to their search engine the past couple years is massive[1]. They have become just fantastic at giving the user what they were searching for right away without even having to click on a link [2]. The use of space by google is so far ahead of DDG it's not even fair.

That which i have mentioned doesn't even touch the search algorithm itself, which I probably don't even have to say anything about because it's common knowledge how far ahead google is in that aspect too, not to mention all the search related settings you can configure if you have a google account, which also are quite massive.

Competition is good, but at this point there is no competition yet.

The java applet version isnt used anymore (or shouldnt be at least). The one that we have now is great and i haven't had any problems for many years actually. It works on all browsers ive used. What youre saying is very outdated i would say.

In a lot of first world countries people get PAID to go to university. Expecting 17-18 year old's who finished high school to have tens of thousands of dollars to be able to go to good universities is beyond stupid.
