I think you've nailed the point that they missed. You do not always get to do what you already love, especially when you have responsibilities, family etc. What you can do though is what you suggest, learn to love what you do. Which usually starts with being competent at it.

This theory and academic prep that you dismiss is actually pretty damned important. It lays the foundation upon which the experience becomes valuable. What you've suggested is taking the lazy way out on the premise that you don't really need to understand any of it as long as you can muddle through doing enough of it. It is not very good advice.

I do agree that experience is important but experience on top of knowledge is much more valuable.

What I find really irritating aren't the for fee services but the hybrids that want to charge a fee and show you ads without any appreciable change in service.

Are you using an IT structure from the 1990's? Are you funding it using mail in contributions?

If not the only restriction on how fast a platform can grow is entirely down to how fast it can draw attention and acceptance from the masses.

If I'm being honest here these other platforms are a significantly smaller threat to reddit than reddit is. The way the platform reward low value posts and punish any dissenting opinions in discussion threads does more damage to their brands than any wpuld be competitor.

If I went on a holiday for two weeks and came back I wouldn't be able to tell you if there's still a reddit. That's how unimportant reddit has become over the last couple of years.

I think you miss the point. Shorts aren't really suited to the desktop yet they're crammed in there. The format isn't really suited to YouTube in general. If they really wanted to compete with tiktok they'd spin shorts off to a separate app and tune their algorithm to those users without continuing to make YouTube worse while pandering to shorts.

The difference that you're hinting at though is called human factors in design. For a mobile phone the all touch model is workable. In cars it ignores the key needs like safety and consistency which are different from phones.

I thinknyoure missing the way this type of ban works. When you tell the emomplyees not to use a banned service it becomes an employee discipline issue. If they violate it its likely a problem for the company but it becomes a serious problem for that employee.

With the aggressive way onedrive has evolved it is harder to keep your files off there rather than having to ask them to store files on there. They simply take them and continually obfuscate the routes to disabling onedrive.

After a recent windows update knedrive completely hosed several of my folders. Not because they contained mallard but because onedrive decided it was better to move my files to the cloud rather than keeping them on my drove where they belonged. Trying to recover the files. Remove them from one drive and disable the service again was much more involved than it should have been.

I'd say more complexity has been added for the sake of perceived safety and convenience. Sure a lot of complexity was added for efficiency but there no reason the entire car down to the turn signals needs to operate on a databus with a single point of failure who's replacement averages 10% of the price of the car.
