Nope, I stopped using Apple devices in early 2019. I can't accept their attitude anymore, of deciding what I'm allowed to install on my hardware. macOS is a bit more open than iOS, but is every year shifting more and more into the same direction.

Or just install Windows, install Deskflow, do my job, earn my money, pay my bills, go on vacation, take a sun bath and stop using an OS developed by people wearing thin foil aluminum hats.

Fully agree, same here. It's just sad to keep watching this, because now just after approx. 15 years i started to evaluate the Linux Desktop again and it failed again. Many professional software like Maya, Houdini, Unreal, etc. that used to run great on Linux/X11, now sucks on wayland. Some are hyping Linux for the subpar gaming compatibility, while for GameDev Windows is still required. In 15 years I'll try again, but then I'm probably to old for this.

It's just some of the so many reasons why the "Year of the Linux Desktop" will never see the light. Linux is doomed to run mainly headless on a dark chamber hardware. As always when the Linux Desktop is just starting to take off, somebody comes up with a new great self destructive idea(wayland), it always has been like that and probably will never change.

Yeah? Then try to drag out a tab of firefox or GNOME files to the upper direction, good luck. Then check how "awful" Blender 5.1 titlebar and window frame integrates to GNOME. Have fun trying to make Deskflow/Synergy working on GDM.

Well, not only this, the private movement of avoiding American stuff is also getting stronger in the EU. Somehow it's like game in the store, YESSsss, +1:EU -1:US. It's feels so satisfying to find and buy alternatives to US products where it's possible, from tech over clothes to food. Somehow Trump is doing the EU a favor by pushing us to become independent again. It will take time, but we'll get there.

Well, I simply don't accept nor attend meetings that are setup directly after another meeting. There must be also time to pee, poop, drink, prepare, etc. in between them. At least 30mins gaps between meetings is a must have for me.

Same here, running MacType/Windows on a 65" LG 4k OLED C5 TV with 100% scaling as my main display for all kind of stuff incl. coding. But i must admit that fonts on Linux looks noticeable better out of the box and MacType/Windows does not apply to all applications. E.g. for LibreOffice i had to change the rendering engine(disable skia) under options and on PDFGear MacType does not apply at all.

Anyway, OLED is great, I'm sitting 2 arm length away from the panel.

People complaining are probably Gen.Z that never sat in-front of an ol' CRT in the 90s and are spoiled by smartphones running 4k on minuscule 7" displays with 460ppi.

Releasing a browser without cross OS support incl. mobile devices, makes no sense now a days. Extension support and bookmarks sync is also a must have. That's why Firefox is still my browser.

Seems like >=2026 will be the year I'll start buying stuff again that has been replaced by mobile phones during all the years (Camera, Mp3Player, etc.) With this coming, buying a flagship mobile phone simply doesn't worth for me anymore. Currently i own a S24Ultra, my next mobile phone will probably be the cheapest Chinese crap I can get, just for the mobile things i "have" to use it.

Well, another thing is, that old UI’s used to have no heavy animations, that feels slow because the users actions are not instantly triggered. You clicked on something and BAM it was there, without any complex animations. Frustrating animations came to later Windows Versions. Iirc there was switch offable minimize and maximize animations, that all.

There is a reason why they bend over for EU's DSA.

They can view the stores as they want, but they know that per law they aren't distinct online platforms, as long their Userbase, AppleIDs, AppleID Backend, Hosting Services, Databases, iCloud Services, Apps, Games and In-App Purchases are cross-wired and shared between all Apple devices/stores. The DSA sees it as one(1) united Online Platform and would not care for Apple's Store breakdown.

This is just the typical Apple FUD: Without prejudice to further consideration of the legal characterisation, Apple views each version of the App Store as a distinct online platform under the DSA, and only the iOS App Store may qualify as a VLOP. Nonetheless, Apple intends, on an entirely voluntary basis, to align each of the existing versions of the App Store (including those that do not currently meet the VLOP designation threshold) with the existing DSA requirements for VLOPs because the goals of the DSA align with Apple’s goals to protect consumers from illegal content.

Yes I know, and they share the same AppleIDs/AppleID Backend/Purchages. These AppStores are not fully independent and have to be seen as one. Many Apps even share the same binaries and are cross Apple Device available. You can install iPhone Apps on iPads, and you can install iPad Apps on Macs.

I don’t think they will be out of scope, because they all uses the same AppleID backend and users can cross login with the same AppleID everywhere. To be out of scope, Apple would have to block iOS AppleIDs and iOS purchases from working on the other gadgets and stores.

Heh, it's just a matter of time till this scenario "fully" reaches us here in the EU, and in the US probably, too. E.g. my health insurance company (AOK) here in Germany called me last year, and tried to give me an Apple Watch for free. The main part of the contract was, to submit my movements for "a study". In return they offered me something like "bonus points", and cheaper additional insurance plans.
