If you want fallout then you want an air burst to the West and let the Easterly winds spread the fallout.

This might be true, but I've heard speculation that a surface burst would produce more fallout. Their reasoning is that fallout from an air burst would have considerably less dirt or debris so it would (supposedly) remain airborne for a longer period of time. On the other hand, a surface burst would darn near vaporize anything in the blast radius, and all that newly created radioactive debris would fall much quicker.

My sources could be incorrect, so if you've got something that indicates otherwise I'd appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction. :-)

I never meant to imply that I thought Apple's (possible) intent was a good thing.

I just think that a significant number of people will see what they're doing and thing "Oh, they're looking out for me." I think it's best to be skeptical of any company's motives, whether their current business decisions seem to help their users or not.

It's possible that they have no intent to do so, but a corporation's primary interest is making profit. And what would be a simple, yet significant, source of new revenue? Selling user data.

Apple already has access to all the metrics that Facebook would be interested in. It seems to me like this is a set-up for Apple to force FB to buy the data directly from them.

Have you watched mainstream news sources over the last 4 or 5 years? Everything that Trump has done (for better or worse) has been met with constant pushback and criticism.

Even when he does something that everyone should see as a good thing (like multiple Middle-East peace deals), they find something to criticize about.

I wonder if that's why they're making the bet.

Didn't go through the CS program as they announced it a month after I finished my Bachelor in Software Development but I thought it was a pretty good program. Definitely planning on going back for a Master's when the time is right.

But yes, if he has something that he can point to when re-election time comes around and say "Look, I tried to help Trump out" then it will probably guarantee him votes.

I'm a Texas resident and didn't know he had already been indicted. But I tend to vote Libertarian for local and state positions so I didn't really look too much into his background.

The DEA has cracked down tremendously on healthcare providers that over-prescribe opioids, though. Granted I'm sure there are many who still prescribe them like crazy, but it seems like active measures are being taken to curb it.

I've had pretty much the same experience (minus the recommendation for Turmeric).

Once I was lucky enough to get a steroid prescribed and it worked wonders compared to a dose of Ibuprofen every 4 to 6 hours.

I would imagine those that cheat at online chess wouldn't stay at a low level for very long.

AFAIK most (all?) sheriffs can't be fired. They're elected county officials, so maybe they could be impeached but I really don't think they can be just outright fired like that.

Also, I would imagine many of the sheriffs that refuse to enforce mandates probably have considerable support from their constituents. Surely that would make their impeachment a significantly more difficult ordeal for whatever agency is responsible for the impeachment proceedings.

It may be, I'm certainly no expert. As a layman I've been led to believe that if you alter user-generated content you toe the line of being classified as a publisher as opposed to a platform. And my understanding of platform versus publisher is that the latter is legally liable for the site's content and thus allowed to be moderated more heavily than the former. Again, I have zero experience with writing/interpreting law so recognize that I could be wrong here...

My understanding is that if these companies wish to use Section 230 to keep themselves from being held liable for what their users post. By censoring users' posts that don't violate the law they are acting as a publisher and not a platform, ergo eliminating Section 230 protections.

To my understanding, Trump didn't authorize the publishing of his tax info, so surely that would count as "hacked" or "illegally obtained", right? From what I've read about Hunter Biden's laptop, the information was legally obtained because he left the computer at the repair shop long enough that it legally became the property of the shop owner. I could be wrong (and if I am, please let me know) but that, to me, seems like clear bias on the part of Twitter and Facebook.

If they had treated both articles in the same manner I would likely agree with you about a lack of bias, but it seems to me that this was done to prevent damage being done to one campaign.

The abortion argument definitely presents an issue regarding the NAP: are you violating the NAP by terminating the pregnancy, or is the fetus violating the NAP by existing in the mother's uterus without her "permission". I think ultimately it depends on how one views a fetus. Many (most?) libertarians think that a woman doesn't owe a fetus the right to exist in her womb.

But there are some (specifically the Libertarians for Life[0]) who attempt to justify the act of abortion as a violation of the NAP. If I understand correctly, their reasoning is that human offspring are human beings regardless of their stage of development and thus terminating a pregnancy is literally killing an innocent person.

Personally, I think saying "You aren't pro-choice so you aren't a libertarian," isn't so cut and dry.

As a long-time PlayStation player and PS+ subscriber, I can't say I'm really impressed with this offering. I mean, they're kinda hit or miss each month, but sometimes you get something that was surprisingly good (I really enjoyed Galak-Z).

Maybe one or both of these games will be good, but the highest Metacritic user score of the two is just 7.0 for Vampyr. NFS has just a 4.2.

I really don't think it's going to be an issue, but I've heard that the ACLU has an app for recording/streaming police interaction. Perhaps that could be a good starting point, and you wouldn't (or shouldn't) have to buy any extra equipment.

Really feels like a Catch 22 situation, then. :-(

If I recall correctly, Tesla open sourced their patents in 2014. Couldn't other car companies implement their own version of Tesla's equipment and skip a significant portion of the R&D needed for EV development?

Obviously that would take more work than just buying directly from Tesla, but if they built their manufacturing line to supply their own Tesla-invented tech then they should be able to sell it to other manufacturers, right?

Some schools do provide food for students' evening meals. I don't have a statistic to provide, but my wife's school is one of them. It's also worth noting that her school is the low socioeconomic school district in our town (out of 3 total).

That hardly warrants a blanket statement like "Remote hiring at tech companies is racist." A more accurate title would be "The hiring manager for Webflow appears to be racist".

+1 for VS Code for general purpose dev.

I used Atom when it first came out and loved it, despite people's constant complaints about it crashing and being unstable. It just ran so smooth for me.

Then I moved VS Code so I'd be using the same editor for my personal development that I used at work. About a year ago (3 or 4 since I moved from Atom) I decided to give Atom another try, and was miserable. It crashed constantly and when it didn't crash it would run at a snail's pace.

I've installed VS code on multiple machines and haven't had any issues, despite both Atom and VS Code are Electron apps.
