I used a bithead on my computer with good headphones and FLAC/Apple Lossless files and it was nice, both linux and windows recognized the bithead right away but once that broke my headphones just got plugged in straight to the computer and the amplification isn't really a factor and not enough difference is head by my ears to make me go out and buy another bithead.

Soundblaster is pretty awful now, plus it doesn't even work on linux but my last card was a soundblaster as well probably around '05.

I'm surprised that you don't have access to dsl but do have access to 3G, I live in a pretty rural part of my state but dsl is still available (but my first real hop is 80-100ms) but it is 1mbit. My only other option is satellite internet or purchasing a t1 for ~300/month.

I must say though if the cell networks stop charging so much for access I could see a real use for it as it is much faster than satellite internet and if they encompass the whole country in 3G broadband for all would be more of a possibility.

I really hope it is some sort of mistake, arpnetworks give you a /48 but I believe you are limited to /64 by default.

Even so though tunnel brokers give out /64's and having to pay for that with native support would be rather silly.

They are probably the best option if you are going to run openbsd or freebsd on a vps, though if you are going for linux I would say my experience with prgmr (for a similar price range) was much better than arpnetworks and if you want support/dns you should go with linode.

I don't see any reason to fret over a word, it was never compared to human rights violation in the post and in the context they did disappear her from her chosen handle on the site which is just as much as removing her blog as it isn't linked to the other in any other way.

Fabric is just so much easier to catch thats why things like short sleeves and no gloves are so important, it is probably much less likely for your hand/arm to get wound around the machine because the muscle and skin doesn't catch as easily.

As someone with light machine shop experience (building things in my ME schooling) gloves are dangerous on machines like mills (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milling_machine) where they are spinning so fast when they catch the glove you will not be able to brake and you most likely will not have parts or all of your hand.

It should have been obvious to anyone else remotely familiar with security that dropbox had/has access to your files from the simple fact that you could reset your password, as well as the web interface.

Linode, if you don't need the cloud way of doing things (it is much harder to create your own image and use it on multiple servers, though doable it isn't the recommended way).

Things like stackscripts and on demand servers make it closer to the cloud style but not really. They are a good VPS provider with good support and reliability.

I can understand dropbox not allowing you to publicly share files on a case by case basis, or else I could simply put illegal content in my public folder and send out the link.

I understand it a little less if you are say sharing folders between friends.

And I wouldn't like it at all if they deleted something from my dropbox, but it seems we aren't there yet.

I can understand them not wanting the files to be public, but as tptacek said this is probably fluffed up quite a bit.

As far as I'm concerned the only issue with how they handled it is the DMCA takedown request, and if the CTO acted as said but that is less of a factor.

If the files were never removed from the persons dropbox and only public urls disabled I'm okay with that. However if the files were removed I would probably count that as all three strikes and jump ship.

I'm not so sure chess masters would necessarily be good at other things like say physics as they would have to have a passion in that to even become remotely viable for race saving. Grandmasters likely have been playing and practicing and have been absolutely absorbed in chess for many years in order to achieve their status, but I don't know if it would be as easy for someone who thinks chess to become absorbed in something like medicine or aeronautics or other such things.

For me goggles took the longest I have ever seen it.

Indents are included with a simple up arrow with ipython, it also works if you are doing a backwards search (C-r), it just doesn't have the nice formatting you get when you first write the function.

Idle is a bit easier to edit the function though.

It does work in ipython it just is annoying to navigate and you have to rely on the automatic indenting a bit more if you are adding anything (as the ...: is missing).

Unless of course you mean history through different sessions as that doesn't work for full functions.

Amazon offers samples of books before you buy (usually the first chapter, or more if it is short) and that kind of solves the try a few pages problem.

I think most people just are more willing to fork over 99 cents for a mediocre book rather than 8 dollars for a decent one.

I think one of the main problems for no www. domains is that even though some dns systems let you assign the root record to a CNAME is that it breaks MX records if you do so.

I think it really depends on the students and whether or not you are finding these coasters (taken from other comments) in the classes or not. Cheating is probably the least likely in the harder degrees near the end of the program and most likely in the easier degrees near the beginning of the program.

In my engineering program I have had plenty of teachers walk out of the room for large amounts of time or do something like grade papers without looking around the room and haven't once seen an issue of cheating.

However in my freshman chemistry course which was required for a large amount of students from many disciplines they had 8 T.A.s and electronically moveable cameras (the class was recorded so the cameras were just being re-purposed) monitoring a class of about 200 and I do believe some cheaters were caught in my semester.
