This is a classic case of "Thing in japan". Yes 'wakaba' mark is cool. But the exact same point can be made about a big red L . Far more ubiquitous. Also there are beautiful medieval crests on British Fire engines. I doubt that purely wordless, symbolic system was truly the ultimate pinnacle of operational clarity.

I agree with the sentiment of the parent comment. But I also sometimes question what you have posed exactly. Am I really learning or getting the curiosity itch scratched. The line is very thin sometimes. But I think I am more in the camp of learning. I can ask so dumb question that I never had the courage to ask nor were they entertained where I was educated. It has been a boon to finally ask.
For example I am following Dirac's book "The Principles of quantum mechanics" to study QM. Pre-AI wouldn't have been able to do so, I am just that dumb. Even with AI its tough. but the thing is I can keep asking questions until I get that concept drilled in. Now I am doing it at a pace that's unfathomable to me.
But now that I am getting to grips with QM, I can get to things that I am really interested to learn like spin resonance and so on. This is something I am so grateful for.
Now it can be questioned that is it making me wise, intelligent or just "giving me answers" that I should strive to discover myself. I dont know the answer to that. But studying what I want, how I want and not getting judged is something i deeply enjoy. Srry the comment might have taken some tangents.
I agree. This from the paper mill for the paper mill.
In defense of Byzantines. Their rules and amazing diplomatic prowess is what let them be an empire for so long. The negative connotations to Byzantine comes from the negative perception the west had of them. Byzantines were very practical in regards to who they allied with.
Its interestine, when you say abstractions. Could you explain what you mean by abstractions in this context and what do you mean by the underlying fundamentals.
Its a good effort but very pedestrian and a very low hanging fruit. Its just another academia paper that will be published.

I'd say this is far more interesting, does not use ML and credits the tech stacks that it leverages . https://people.csail.mit.edu/davidam/docs/WiMic_final.pdf
If only they bring back their "On the metal" podcast. That podcast scratched an itch I didnt knew I had .
One of the best shows I've ever watched.
Its not. Here is the paper. https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/sciadv.adu8826
Thats neat! thanks
Are there any good sources that I can read up on estimiating what would be hardware specs required for 7B, 13B, 32B .. etc size If I need to run them locally? I am grad student on budget but I want to host one locally and trying to build a PC that could run one of these models.
I've only recently started looking into running these models locally on my system. I have limited knowledge regarding LLMs and even more limited when it comes to building my own PC.

I am in a situation right now where I have to deliver on all three platforms. I chose Flutter because I just couldnt do anymore JS.
"solid" may sound affirming but doesnt really mean anything. I am open to believe that Gottman Institute is not selling snake oil. Please provide some peer reviewed papers in reputable journals about Couples Therapy with Reproducable results by Gottman Institute. I am even willing to relax Conceptual replication, some papers with exact replication will do.
Do you have conclusive scientific evidence on your hypothesis? It doesn’t sound like it is based on science and might suffer from the replication crisis.
The onus of providing proof and supporting evidense lies on "therapists" and "psycologists" who make the claim that their work is science and it "helps" people in any way.
Yes, the standards are a lot less rigorous and reproducability is worse than in the "hard sciences", but at least they are trying to get some kind of objective, reproducable result in the first place.
This is a major red flag. This whole field is reeling under Credibility crisis.
People should be exposed to medical treatments which are tried , tested aproved and regulated. Which this field cant be further from yet they have the authority to advice people as under pretext of psycologists and therapists.
There should be even more regulation for psycologists and therapists , just like there is approval process for vaccines . Howcome we are allowing so many people to be exposed to medical treatments which have barely any regulation and no reproducablity.
Sure , I am open to believe that psychological therapy is not psedoscience. Please provide some peer reviewed papers in reputable journals about Couples Therapy with Reproducable results. I am even willing to relax Conceptual replication, some papers with exact replication will do.
And then you end with claiming there "is better chance you'll come out damaged then[sic] cured", even claim the odds are "highly against you", without any support whatsoever. For someone who cares about a basis in science, you sure have some strong opinions without any basis in fact.
Because I care about basis in science thats the reason I wrote it. Going to therapy is akin to going for homeopathic medicine to get cured. Homeopathy was popular in 18th century on the coattails of vaccination and its still a big industry in US but it has more in common with Goop than medicine. With current credibility crisis Psycological therpay will also face similar demise.
Since therapy is not an actual science . This whole article and the opinions are hot air.
I think therapy has potential to do more harm than good. Since its not based on science and none of the results are reproducable. This has caused me to be apprehensive about it in the first place. Since its not an actual science I'd rather not be vulnrable to a person and let them poke and prod me when there is no gurantee of a reproducable result.
When you are going to a therapist youre throwing the dice that the experiment works , with odd highly against you. There is a better chance you'll come out damaged then cured .

I had already posted a similar reply but I was going to say the exact same thing. I have a comute of 45 mins each way and I dont really despise it either. During my return commute I love to stop at an old shack for coffee and then head home. Its something I look fwd to now at the end of my day.
I am in the same boat as you are. Even though I have the flexibility of being remote, I still commute at least four days a week. It will sound really weird but I like the process/routine and even the commute part.
Meeting people in the office even from differen teams really helps me somehow and when I am in my cubicle I can really get the work done as opposed to working from home.
I think I need that physical divide betwwen my personal and professional life to function properly.
These are two very extreme categories to box someone in. Everyone has a trait from both ends of the spectrum in different regards.
The one very weird thing that I am realising now is that , reddit feels really good due to blackout. I only get updates from my niche subs, no more rage, and I close the app after a few minutes. Its like i got back the old reddit inadvertently .
Please correct me if I am wrong , Linux has HRTs introduced just to solve this problem right ? Windows doesnt have anything like that ?
How is micro-sleep solving the problem that OP has underlined ? >The resulting behaviour appears to be that the message queues are filling up, and as a result, not only the windows themselves are becoming unresponsive, but the system as a whole is starting to respond poorly. This seems to happen even on a quadcore system with HyperThreading, which should be able to handle 8 threads simultaneously. So just having enough cores is not always the answer, apparently.
