can you tell a bit more about how you got scammed? I was in Cairo twice for business and our hosts organized nice trips through the historic sites and new museum. I intend to go there with my family one day

Is there an way for me as user to be sure that the no upload promise holds? I mean yeah I could use the dev tools, but it would be cooler to have the browser eg prohibiting visually any upload of data beyond the pure url request
Sure that works, but it breaks the flow
It’s my daily news driver and the app I am spending most time in. Have to find ways to limit the amount of sources, though. FOMO is a factor.
Only annoying thing, but I guess out of this app‘s influence is that the embedded safari doesn‘t use the Adblock plugin. AFAIK that’s an iOS/Safari restriction. This leads to huge amount of ads on same pages I open directly in the app. Any clues maybe?
Isn’t Communism the original here? It’s often claimed that all historic attempts to establish Communism don’t work cause it wasn’t done in the right way.
In all seriousness, this pattern is probably hard to avoid in any reasonably complex entity/environment. If any such situation would be solved in a global solution (aka silver bullet), it would be used by everyone. As this seems not possible, any framework like Agile, Communism, … can only be a guidance to be applied locally, and broken internally and by external factors in many ways
I was never an RSS user until half a year ago. Now that’s my only way of browsing my choice of (tech) news sources and blogs.
Classic enshittification loop
That is correct. Before the nuclear exit due to Fukushima panic her government actually reverted the exit of the former government.
Skipped through the first pages and I really like your approach. Avoiding to use „magic“ libraries which abstract away a lot of the intricacies the lower levels is helping with the understanding.
I started my journey to develop my own little OS (https://github.com/jbreu/jos ) based on phil opperman‘s tutorial but quickly diverged from his exactly due to his use of such libraries.

Mighty impressive
Anyone can recommend a good quality camera without spyware and ideally open sw stack. I am willing to do it myself with little soldering etc. that’s one rabbit hole didn’t enter yet
Thought about zero-copy IPC recently. In order to avoid memcopy for the complete chain, I guess it would be best if the sender allocates its payload directly on the shared memory when it’s created. Is this a standard thing in such optimized IPC and which libraries offer this?
Did my PhD with that - good/hard times
YouTube settings are notoriously volatile even on the same device and being logged in. Subtitles are enabled every other day all of a sudden without any need (even for my natural language content). Since they rolled out the auto-trabslation thing the same happens, I have to switch to original English every few days.
That looks very impressive! Would give it a spin but as far as I can tell I can’t use it with my Rust os kernel running inside qemu
Any good alternatives which can import my pocket data?
Welcome to the club! Did almost the same and really enjoyed the serenity of doing something which never will end up in a product

This should be an outlook add-in (ideally with a way to connect to an company-internal llm-api)

Tried to apply it for debugging on my own OS, but couldn’t get it finally running after several days of trial and error…

I guess broadcasting beacons via Bluetooth to nearby iPhones, same principle like AirTags work
Nice! Will follow. Doing similar things here: https://github.com/jbreu/jos

Maybe it’s a location thing? Until very recently I used the free version of Spotify and never experienced any ads in podcasts (which surprised me considering the amount of ads when listening to music). Since I have premium I didn’t listen to podcasts a lot, so I can’t tell if it behaves differently
Our oldest got my old iPhone when she qualified for gymnasium at the age of 9.5. I have configured a quite strict regime via the iOS child control features (max 30 mins per day, no purchases, blocked tiktok.com). So far it works quite well, it’s enough to keep her connected to her mates, but restricted such that often she isn’t even using it even if she could. Whenever she can get screentime on another device she is will never stop until external force is applied.
Plasmo is great, his videos are so relaxing to watch
For sure growth at renewables is great. However the overall percentages you gave are all-year averages. It goes down to single digit % on dark windstill winter days.
Considering this and the fact that nuclear energy (Fukushima), coal (climate change) and now gas (Putin) are effectively „banned“, it’s really quite a mess.
First thought: this is about some kind of Amazon product called rainforest
