Ugh why is a dating article near the top of HN? Go to reddit for that nonsense.

Maybe you can answer this. What amount of the CP pictures are actual CP? Like are teens posting selfies of themselves in swimsuits or revealing clothes being submitted? People with their kids in the bathtub/pool? Are most of these pictures real give you nightmares CP?
Its seems insane to me that anyone would knowingly upload CP to a forensics site on purpose. Much less several times a day.
OK, I'll forfit 100% of my rights to eradicate CP from my country. Then lets say these measures are effective and CP is removed in all but name from the country. Now what do we do with the thousands of people and billions or of dollars that is being funneled into the effort? Well history shows us this answer. None of those people or authorizes are suddenly going to say well that's a wrap. Lay us off and take the budget to a more meaningful use. Nope, instead they double down and start looking for other "infringements" to justify their funding and their jobs. Ever increasing in the pettiness of the trespass until powerful sociopath realizes they can now repurpose this agency an their resources for their own power gain to remove opponents and silence opposition.
Perhaps even worse. They move on to some ML based detection that uploads suspected CP that is not in the database. Most people have no idea how bad a false accusation can destroy their lives. Even if you are 100% innocent there is already a formal government case against you. At the very least you will be compelled to hire a very expensive attorney to handle the matter for you. After all you cant risk a budget attorney with a huge caseload to handle this potential life sentence case. Not to mention that during this time you will possible be locked out of accounts, finances, put on leave from employment, banned from hiring, banned from assistance programs. Perhaps even posted in the media as a sex offender.
I really don't get this are you in some super poor country? No offense intended. I'm an IT manager of a mediocre real estate company and I have a decked out home office with all the new toys and with a mini data center that could power a medium size office. In all probably totaling in the mid 5 figures. All company paid and I doubt they remember I exist most days. Where are these tech first companies that barely allow a CTO to scrape by with no resources?
That is actually a really cool idea. Probably a lot more work than it sounds like.
In other news 60% of people don't pay attention to anything other than what is parroted to them by other "people"
Being good is hard. Being big is easy.
Cool. That said this guy is basically describing a notebook. No computer necessary. If his goal was a 1000 year computer that would be something.
Unless every person on earth wants to become a PHD in CS this is a dead end. How do you fix this computer otherwise, hire someone? Yeah its called the market and it sells $150 replacement computers when yours dies. Exactly 1 person on earth would use this and its the author.
It always bothers me a bit when tech people get so wrapped up in a rabbit hole of a pointless obsession. His skills/time could be used much better elsewhere.
I quit caffeine for a year and found it not to be worth it. I'm simply not a 9-5 type person so when I have to go in an office I need caffeine to function and I function much better.
Epstein was possibly the most high profile case of child sex trafficking linked to people in power in all of history. Instead of being treated as such every procedure, protocol, and standard were botched, disregarded, "glitched", ignored, ect. You are never gonna get a video of Clinton, ect confessing to buying child prostitutes from Epstine.
How many of those extensions have 1mil+ users though. Its called prioritizing. The fact that they treat popular extensions just like one that tom wrote for him and his family to share pictures is poor mgmt. They are making money so there should be more accountability on Google's part even if they dont "have" to .
The only reason accredited investor exists is to reduce free market competition. If everyone could invest in UBER when it was $1 a share it would not make billions for the "accredited investors" when it went public.
The main issue I have with these sites is that they are relatively pointless. The really only are able to cover low and mid level position salaries. Those salaries are not generally very elastic anyway and you can get pretty close to the the salary info from public stats anyway. This makes the site pretty much useless for those jobs.
If you are the Director of AI/Machine learning (or CFO or whatever) at some company there are probably only you or you and one other person that ever had that job. By providing the salary you are outing yourself anyway and risking some sort of action against you. Anyone looking to move into these good jobs has no use for the site either.
This is the real problem glassdoor had/has and why it will eventually disappear or become nothing but ads or headhunter style site.
Follow up article in months..
Go's Simplicity is its weakness for XXX thing.
I find these constant take one aspect of a language and paint the world with it to be unhelpful and distracting. However based on the comment section HN eats it up, no wonder people keep writing them. Its like Instagram for nerds I guess.
California is a socialist cabal and other news at 11...
All fine and well but at the end of the day I've tried to convert real world (non SV) companies and issues like people finding a 10yo macro that won't work on libreoffice is just too much in the cost column to outweigh the benefit of paying for MS office.
Real minimum wage was already $12-$14 pretty much anywhere. It basically just removed the 7.25 training wage for the first 3 months.
The main problem is they don't really have algorithms. Its just "hey here is a low budget garbage version of the show you were watching." That's not an algorithm. That is just crappy category matching that companies want to pretend is AI.
My point is no one is going to cure cancer or solve global issues because of psychedelics.
I have no issues with experiencing things. I just don't like that people try to sell it like it is anything more than that.
I was talking about these "grand revelations" people claim to get. Medical use is an entirely different thing.
Your second half just reinforces my original point. Its an "experience" ie just getting high.
The problems with these types of books to me is that the researcher surgically analyizes a tiny part of the whole picture and claims this is the grand solution or something like that.
This book does nothing other than highlight common knowledge but does nothing to show why or how it is that way and what can be done to begin to change it.
Its the equivilant of saying well the reason the timing belt on your car breaks is it is too weak. So I made a 150kg gear system to replace it. "Wont that be too heavy for the engine to turn it?" , "Oh yeah you will have to replace the whole engine and transmission as well." Except in this instance it is all of society and humanity that would have to be changed or replaced.
On example: the reason duct tapers exist is that they handle the exceptions from really, really ,really, really difficult problems to solve that are already partially solved and working good enough.
psychedelics
Every "epiphany" that someone has told me they had while on psychedelics has been something that easily could have been come up with a bit of quite time and thought.
I have never heard a single story that blew me away or offered anything but mundane "insights" that easily could be gotten other ways.
Its time for the "psychedelics" people to come clean and just admit they are simply getting high.
Beat me to it. I can't imagine how even with the boxes(many which are recycled) it is less efficient for a single route driver to replace hundreds if not more individual trips for the same result.
Media is clueless as usual. Are people spending gold bullion/coins? Nope. The government independent value store is the value of bitcoin.
My experience is the exact opposite. I often skim the article and find that commenters are better informed than the author and provide more relevant information.
I think there is a sort of subconscious push for this that not everyone attributes. In tech work if you are at an office you tend to get "dump trucked" work even if it is not your domain or responsibility. "I gave it to you its yours now figure it out"
The reality is bad management is the rule rather than the exception in most of the world. If you are home you are "out of sight out of mind" for MBWA(management by walking around)managers. At the very least it requires a manager to stop think before just running over and screaming we need this done today type stuff.
Are you implying the results are doctored in some way?
It's literally how the world works.
So the world works perfectly in your opinion?
The good thing about blockchain is it lowers the cost bar for crazy expensive business legalize. It of course needs more work but a proper smart contract setup placed in front of a judge leaves little need for a dozen lawyers and business consultants to see the intent of the contract.
The main issue is that the current very expensive and inefficient setup benefits middle men that produce very little value. Transitioning away from that will eventually happen and that will be the reason blockchain and smart contracts explode in value and usefulness.
All that it needs is for reddit to commit suicide just like digg chose to.
I've actually started trying to see how wrong the newer Capchas from will let me be on purpose. Either by not selecting all of them or picking wrong ones. They let you through a lot of the time.
