gab platform is fairly pro far-right, as is the founder. HN crowd is susceptible to tribalism just like any other group.

Modern equivalent: don't text or email when you can call, don't call when you can speak face to face, don't speak face to face if you can wink
you see powerful people following this advice all the time, like with Bill Clinton and Loretta Lynch’s tarmac meeting. He flew in a plane to talk face to face just to ensure it wouldn't get recorded.
Same.
Satellites aren't pollution. They have a 10 year service life then fall back down to Earth.
Do you also complain about buildings ruining your french nights? Or billboards? Or traffic noise? Should we ban all automobiles and buildings and outdoor lighting? Should we ban all combustion engines to ensure there's no amount of smog in the air as well?
Satellites are extremely far down on the list of public nuisances and don't serve any threat to our health unlike smog and carbon emissions.
Elon's (public) motive about colonizing other planets has never been about rich people having fun. It's an existential necessity.
i recommend using hckrnews.com as your front page for many reasons, including this one
I'm not sure I've encountered a single bug in the half year or more I've had this. I don't ask a lot of it, to be fair. I guess Firefox as my main browser really drains the hell out of the battery, which is annoying. Not really a bug.
I've been really happy with my M1 and it's my first Macbook ever, I've been a diehard Windows guy my entire life. So, so, so tired of loud and failing fans on my Windows machines, terrible trackpads, terrible displays, constant hardware issues, Windows update forcing shutdowns in the middle of meetings, malware-level upgrade prompts, etc etc.
I have a 2" cube and wish I had the sphere instead for sure
Facebook filters and censors content on a massive scale. They even block private messages with certain keywords or domains
I'm been using a tool to simply help filter out negativity:
It's still a really early version but I know the guy is still working on it
Either it's a dupe, people don't like seeing negative press about Apple, people found the article misleading, or they don't like the publisher in general
I can think of multiple examples of rushed games that are good, or became good - though Miyamoto's quote here may have been before the era of internet updates.
I think part of the issue is that all the things that men fare worse in that you listed out are the results of a society that is controlled by men. Men are doing this to themselves.
The problem for women is that the negative societal aspects of their lives are not controlled by women - it's still largely controlled by men. Same for people of color in the US - their lives are largely controlled by white people (and specifically white men).
I think even for the wildest of misogynists out there (I am in no way implying this is you or anyone on HN) it's hard to argue that the world would not be drastically different if it was mostly controlled by women.
On the other side of the coin: maybe he didn't see you wave because he's on a video call and looking at the caller's face. Maybe he didn't want to step onto your property or disturb your day because that is often seen as aggressive behavior. Maybe he didn't actually stop for the reason you think he did and just happened to notice the chickens and pointed to take a photo.
Calling the cops is a ridiculous reaction to just about anything these days other than someone has been shot.
I was biking around downtown Seattle area a couple days ago and came across your office by chance. Nice location! I was curious what the inside looked like, it looks like it was maybe converted from residential or hotel space.
Your https://www.temporal.io/careers link formatting is broken just FYI. Thanks for posting even though there's nothing for what I'm looking for in Seattle :)
I'm sure we'll see a long and well funded security department after this incident at other companies /s
Piles? Is that a typo for wires?
When I saw this I actually googled Beyonce to see if she changed her name like artists do sometimes
Also my impression. FAANG isn't necessarily about market cap, it's about the highest paying and sexiest jobs you can get for a large employer
99% of the non-property violence has been conducted by the police
Disagree: police
Possibly that these smart young people view everything like highschool. Everything is a formula driven contest to outshine your peers for the limited spots at prestigious schools. Get the perfect grades, study nonstop for the SAT, find the perfect volunteer experience, get dad to shmooze with his senator friend for that shiny recommendation letter, get into Harvard.
Same thing on loop. After the prestigious internships and summa cum laude, they graduate into a FANG job at 21.
I think the criticism is that these people are conformists. They're good at following an obvious system to the T but has never innovated or taken risks in their life.
I'm a web developer with 5+ years direct professional experience (and probably closer to a decade with freelancing) and my past two roles have been senior level, though the title doesn't mean much other than that I do projects start to finish by myself.
I've been interested in moving into a PM role for the past couple years and it seems like a very difficult transition unless it's done internally at a company big enough to both need the role and for there to be reasonably frequent openings for the role. I've never worked at a company that large before, and I am so so sick of software development that I don't think I can stomach another couple years of it at a new, bigger employer to make that internal transition.
My strategy right now is to find a project management role and then transition from that to product management. But boy this is a difficult job market to find entry level project management roles. I advertise myself as being experienced with project management, which is true - it's been a part of my dev job for years and in freelancing. But after 20+ applications I haven't had a single response. I would have hoped so many years as an engineer would count for more on a resume but I guess not when applying to project or product management roles.
Any advice welcome.

There's probably money to be made there. Could use something similar to generate realistic fake reviews.
Seems to be caused by the too-cold liquid oxygen interacting with carbon elements. So either change how the tanks are pressurized with helium to prevent the oxygen getting too cold, and/or somehow insulate the carbon from the oxygen better. Neither seem like insurmountable problems.
Very few people know what it is, even fewer understand why it's a problem, and fewer yet care about it. I've never seen someone run for an office I was voting for with "reduce or eliminate gerrymandering" as a position so there's no real opportunity to exercise your vote that way.
From what I can tell, the Tesla is better by every metric aside from potentially not being available as soon. Cheaper, faster, better tech, nicer interior, better range, faster charging, better charging network, the list goes on. And let's not forget the huge bonus of not having to go through dealership bullshit.
