I want this but I also wanted the leap motion and got burnt bad. This does seem objectively more useful though. When old mate turns the device towards the projector screen and used it as a touch screen was awesome.

I appreciate the point the writer is trying to make, although I wouldn't exactly consider Vim the bastion of usability. It's incredibly expressive though and once you learn a few rules you can wield a whole lot of power. I'd like to see more of this kinda setup in other programs.

There are a lot of 8" Windows 8 Tablets that can already do basically this. No wireless display but you could do a docking station that provides power, HDMI and USB, then use bluetooth mouse and keyboard.

I have a Motorola Razr (Android) that can go into an Ubuntu install when hooked up via HDMI. It's very slow and you can't extend it without root but the idea is neat.

At home I develop with C# and use the debugger all the time. However, I'm a PHP dev at work and we can't connect to our dev server with debuggers. We have all sorts of various tools we built for getting around it, like dumping objects to email and so forth. Although I kinda miss a step debugger at work I've got enough tools to deal with it, even if it's a bit slower sometimes. In other cases it's kinda freeing in a strange way.

I find that image specifically to be a bit uninspired, but the other, more complete designs are actually pretty good IMO.

That said, I still like Oxygen, just not the taskbar design. I think they could have iterated on it and got a really really awesome and unique design. In there situation, I'd make the gradients a lot more subtle and smooth then work in more of the idea of lighting into the design. The icons could be abstracted a little more too.

It's got a lot of promise to be the best looking Linux desktop around. I don't really like the grey they use however; I'd lighten it up. But then you're in trouble of looking like iOS.

One of the many reasons I had to switch to IE on my laptop, it just sucked way too much.
