To be fair, you don't need to implement exceptions in golang because they already exist in the language, they're just called panics

If you’ve ever tried using type erasure for something more complicated than std::any or std::function, you’ve either written 100+ lines of easy-to-mess-up code or reached for a boilerplate-heavy library like Boost.TypeErasure or Folly.Poly

Are you calling an entire generation of programmers idiots? Do you think they didn't know about C, Smalltalk or Lisp? C++ was the most popular language in the 90s because it was the best tool for a lot of jobs back then, people chose to use it willingly. Arguing that it only got popular because of PR is delusional, it had already gotten popular long before it got any corporation money behind it

Interesting. I think this style completely died out in Russia, I wasn't taught it and never really seen it outside of some old letters and documents. Interesting to hear it survived in Belarus

The Russian language itself comes from Old Bulgarian / Old Church Slavonic, as does Serbian and other "Slavic" languages.

Human rights? Personal freedom? The entire structure of society? The economy? The political system? Laws? Modern views on morality? Even science itself was created by philosophy, what is knowledge and how to get it is a philosophical question, not a scientific one. Every time you interact with other human beings you're doing through the lens of what philosophy and humanities achieved in the last millenia

At least, Google has the resources and the will to support all their implementations in the long run. I don't always agree with what they do there, but at least I can be sure that it will still work ten years from now. At some point it becomes more important than implementation details

The golang implementation of protobuf sucked historically (still does, but is improving) and gogo was an alternative that fixed a lot of problems and was nicer overall. Until its creator burned out and deprecated it. Chasing a constantly moving target that you have no control over is very taxing in the long run.

After gogoproto I'm hesitant to depend on another non-standard implementation, getting off gogo was a pain. This thing may be better than the one from Google (gogo definitely was), but can we be sure that it will still be around in 10 years?
