this is a funny question. Avoiding tangents, for all intents and purposes, I'm secular. Though I've only had two children with no intention of having more, I was raised Southern Baptist, the oldest of six. I love our big family. My mother was one of seven, and all her siblings have many children as well. I look back fondly on our holiday gatherings and miss them dearly. my aunts were guardian angels through so many difficult times. But as much as I want those big family gatherings and the overall dynamic, I couldn't imagine going back to Southern Baptism as a means to see them perpetuated. It would be nice if there were a natalist "movement" (for lack of better word) that was more or less secular (without being self-aggrandizing and delusional ala effective altruism).

I'm aware of the implications of inflation and the passing of time. Let me be more direct. The "correspondence" between federal deficits and inflation Walter implied existed was almost certainly pulled from his cushions. A deficit that _purchases_ an increase in the money supply certainly _can_ lead to inflation, among other deficit sources in varying degrees. But the implication that we pay for deficits specifically with inflation is a gross oversimplification, all in service of being pithy.

Setting aside your "self-evident" implication that goods and services across the board rise and fall with fluctuations in money supply...

Exactly. I was more focused on visualizing accurate physics about the object. In that sense it was "vivid". Color simply didn't factor in since it wasn't in the prompt. I can, at this moment visualize complex scenes with color without much issue. Especially after looking up aphantasia more closely, I'm highly skeptical of this test. With that said, I do think I tend to think _without_ color for practical purposes--most of the time I'm just interested in the kinetics of things I'm working through. Otherwise I'm very apt to feel like things have colors about them (my daughter, for instance, has a burnt orange personality; "cosmic" is a yellow word; serene is blue; 118 is red)--so it's not simply having a propensity for not thinking or, more importantly, _feeling_ in color.

if you're a worker, then mostly yes. Ideally, self-fulfilling goals that require those extra 40-60 hours you're giving to a company then can be diverted. Not everyone can work at ChangeTheWorld corp for their day job.

I use certbot to maintain valid certificates for my website, but there are more use cases for certificates than just https binding--and not all of them lend themselves to LetsEncrypt provisioning. This was the most egregious part of this post, for the examples you outline. But I also take issue with the framing that remote workers are remote because they have an issue with coming into the office. As a remote employee of and on both before and after the pandemic, I've never had a problem with being in an office, and fully enjoy quarterly visits for a week.

Working from home, I put in my regular 40 hours, and then another 10-20 after-hours, depending on the week/deadlines/insomnia. But outside of that time, my family is not in a tech city. If I were a bachelor with no children this fact wouldn't matter as much. But as it is, when I go afk and back into my life, I want to be physically planted _where my life is_. It is incredibly uncomplicated.

I'm on the DevOps/SRE side, but from my experience moving close to my wife's family (on her dad's side) has been wonderful. Though there aren't phenomenal prospects for onsight jobs in this area, I've been working remote with decent pay considering the cost of living in the area. Having grandparents for the kids to visit, not to mention cousins to play with, is far more rewarding to me than the ideal job. of course there are multiple factors, such as Do you like your spouse's family? Or do you think your family would be more or less beneficial for the kids/you/your spouse?

in short, my family isn't yours. But giving up the opportunity provided by popular cities was good for me in the end.

I am also unsure how buildx works, however I do know that the official docker build-and-push action is not compatible with podman (despite the podman-docker pkg), solely because it uses buildx. As well, compared to buildah builds, building with buildx is much faster--at least with default flags for buildah-build-and-push vs docker-build-and-push. I can say that buildx has an additional cache that must be cleared overtime, which might be related to the build speed difference.

To your first point, I think the cryptocurrenc[y|ies] that get issuance and control from a central authority right will in the end come out the most successful, as control of issuance lends itself to enabling modern economic levers any state may want to pull--for various reasons.

Of course there's an argument to be made that cryptocurrencies as we now know them will only ever have intended use as a secondary currency. In which case, fair enough.

Dual booting is very easy, but still cumbersome to my workflow. I would gladly pay 50-100 bucks a year for a subscription for a modern word-perfect on Linux, even if proton based, as I've missed it ever sense I went to college (demanded MS Word, where our middle and highschool computer lab cut our teeth on WP).

There are conservative and liberal professors, 'radical' professors are far and few between nowadays. As far as why the kids are socialists, it has less to do with their Boomer/gen x parents' raising, and more with watching them get laid off, refinance their houses so that they could defer payments and ultimately end up paying the high mortgage interest later over the course of their entire life--and then finding out that the bailouts given to the banks are what allowed the refinancing. and considering that that same money could have been applied as true mortgage payments instead, with the same economic stimulus effect, without rewarding the banks' behavior.

Our capitalist system already uses socialist instruments to affect the economy and to sustain itself. That the kids are fleshing this out online and discussing how it could be better served to the general populace as opposed to industry leaders should surprise no one.
