They are worried that their populations might work out that Western populations are kept enthralled to the US security state and rebel. Russia is bad but US blows up gas pipeline for democracy and freedom.

Now hand over $800 billion dollars for 'defense'. And $368 billion for AUKUS. And the European bill will be interesting to watch over the next few years.

As a loyal firefox user since the 0.5 release which took 30s to start up, Mozilla is a non-entity these days. It exists solely so that Google can avoid legal disputes. In the mean time, a bunch of grifters have taken over Mozilla for their own financial purposes and push some activist causes rather than a solid browser.

Not yet they aren't; wait until governments or other highly influential organisations such as banks decide to direct pension funds and the like to invest only according to certain ESG profiles and give individuals a convoluted and difficult option if they wish to "opt out".

If these concerns people have about ESG are so important, they should be passed at the democratic level via legislation. At least that way, people could debate and change the system as needed. You didn't need ESG to get rid of lead plumbing - just an interested government.

Of course these days, we can only have private power, not public power.

Equally, one might say that you don't know how the world works and how these scores will be governed by the few to get power over the many.

There was nothing offensive or corrosive about the way you stated the correction so I don't see why you should be down voted; as someone who is learning a foreign language, I can say that having this kind of correction is useful.

The reality is people have to die for corporate socialism and global hegemony. That's why there's no talk of negotiations and anyone discussing this war in neutral, or even Western critical terms is denounced as a Putin troll; even on this site. Trump has to be arrested because a 'far right MAGA Republican' suggests peace and RFK Jr is denounced as a dangerous conspiracy theorist.

Your comment is admirable but misses the point; it's not about helping people, it's about finding issues that can be drowned in hysteria to shovel tax payer money into corporate bank accounts. Once Ukraine is finished (which is about now depending on what Poland tries to do with western Ukraine/Galicia) the campaign will switch to some pablum about how the US did its best and stopped Putin in his tracks but it's time to move on. Since the US election is coming up, the corporate money will be behind Biden, at least if Trump wins the nomination. Assuming Biden wins, then another campaign will begin to repeat the cycle.

Note - I'm not "pro-Trump"; he is some sort of clown but seems to have the vested interests riled up because he picked a peace platform, probably so he can put defense spending into his own pocket. That is verboten.

No I don't; European leaders have either been negligent, corrupt or coerced and I don't blame Americans for sinking their teeth into Europe.

But my parents come from Poland and I live in Australia (which has also been effectively been made into a vassal state) and I despair at being put under American rule. I thought Europe had sufficient strength given its population, economy and history to push back and at least remain independent, but it appears not.

You seem to forget that there were quite a few bases in Europe under the Soviet flag, which ended with the dissolution of the USSR.

Only you can decide whether you think this was the Russian flag or not but I suspect you will not be able to simultaneously argue that it was the Soviet flag during WW2 and the Russian flag during communism. If you believe Russia occupied countries such as Ukraine and Belarus and controlled/occupied Poland, Romania etc, then you will have to accept that the Russians did in fact do the most to defeat the Germans.

If you don't believe it was Russia, and rather the USSR, then you will have to accept it was the collective efforts of countries of the USSR (and the occupation by Russia falls into doubt).

You can't have it both ways.

In either case, the Americans played a lesser role in the defeat of the Germans in WW2 and more properly could be credited with defeating the Japanese. This would make sense as the US is more a naval power than a land power.

In addition to calcifer's arguments, I would suggest you consider that there are multiple aspects of power apart from military. There is financial, economic, cultural, diplomatic and so forth.
