For security reasons, we keep JavaScript disabled even when browsing our own websites (which are ran on remote servers). If it was locally developed, it wouldn't be a problem to have JavaScript enabled.

Also, as a side effect, it's considerably faster browsing the internet without JavaScript enabled.

Is there a guide on how to do this but in a completely isolated way? So that DNS leaks, accessing local networks, etc aren't possible, making it into a router condom for a non-trusted computer?

I'm sorry but that's just incorrect. I'm not going to provide my background info but I can say for sure that Russia is a very bad place to host now. Pre-2012 it was good but now they enforce copyright laws and pro-actively censor the internet.

For domain extensions, always go directly to the nic site if they sell directly (tonic.to, nic.is, nic.cr, vunic.vu etc) as then you don't have to rely on multiple companies - eg, if you remember, ThePirateBay had a 'hydra' of domain extensions but used the exact same registrar rather than using the direct nics so they all were suspended. As for hosting, you need both a safe country and a safe datacenter. Switzerland (Private Layer) hosts many warez sites. Looking at the hosting providers of popular torrent/warez/file host sites is always the best way to find a reliable datacenter.

Did you read the previous articles? Allegedly Paul Le Roux created TrueCrypt (because a domain name is linked to him or something like that). Even if he didn't create TrueCrypt, he definitely created the pre-forked version of it (which he was open about).

It's got me curious as to whether Satoshi was really motivated by being anti-bailout or whether he created it for his own operations just as Paul allegedly created TrueCrypt for his.

If the alternative DNS system allowed us to upgrade our current domain names to the decentralized protocol, then you're not fighting for everyone to start using new TLDs which would be a huge hurdle. Ideally, the upgrade should be for free but use proof of burn on newly created domain names.

For organic traffic pirate sites, the biggest blow was Google's algorithm change. For websites which used a freemium model, the biggest blow was PayPal, Visa and Mastercard banning file sharing websites from using them. Todays announcement was merely a nail in the coffin for those sites.

On topic of LN, I feel that is the best approach from a privacy perspective. It's unnecessary to make every single transaction in the foreseeable future get appended to the blockchain and it sounds Orwellian.

Are you the owner of Ezfile/Filecloud by any chance? If you are, I'm actually quite curious to discuss payment processors with you. Last I checked, you're using Amazon gift cards and Bitcoin. Have you had any luck getting access to credit card processors? Also, what fee per transaction would you consider to acceptable from a CC processor for your category of website (with the ability to let users pay by subscription)?

On note of the save files, I really hope we gain the ability to port PS3 gamesaves to PS4 and also the ability to use save files from the internet. It's madness that Sony doesn't let us do this.

Also, I am somewhat curious as to the API Sony uses for PayPal payments, as it lets you pay within the PS4's GUI. Does anyone know whether the PayPal Payflow API allow Sony to do this or did they get a custom solution?

Pure direct democracy, sure. But Switzerland is has a 'pause' from when the referendum collects signatures to when it actually happens. This gives the 'hive-mind' time to calm and to think more rationally over emotionally. Also, the requirement to physically go to the voting stations acts as a good disincentive for internet viral uproar as they can't make snap decisions. Although, some Cantons are moving towards vote-by-post, but that's still not as bad as what internet voting would be.

IMO, direct democracy to throw out laws and to also get the government to NOT do something (ie: invade a country) I'm in favor for. Though, direct democracy to vote through laws would require stronger restrictions (the law has to be drafted by elected politicians, for example).

But we do need some form of direct democracy because politicians are easily paid for and certainly don't represent the population (at least, here, in the UK).

Am I the only one who prefers the current internet over IPFS? IPFS exposes my IP to anyone who wants to know about the websites I'm visiting. As seen with BitTorrent, that power gets abused significantly. I would prefer a IPFS+Usenet solution, separating the nodes from the clients. What would be even better is if I could choose to connect exclusively to [any country here] nodes, and then I can feel comfortable knowing my traffic is remaining within borders that I can trust with privacy laws.

I had to stop working on a website which was soon to launch when I learned about VAT MOSS. Although, I was thinking whether a faucet-style (india/russia/romania workers) website could pay people $N per email to send the digital good/service manually. Then that should bypass the VAT MOSS legislation, right? Although, they do have plans to apply VAT MOSS to physical goods/services in 2016. It's a pain in the ass.

What would happen to transactions on Monero in a post-quantum world? Would all of the transactions become transparent to the 3/4 letter agencies?

Does the 'mixing' of coins happen on a server (so you trust the server not to log anything) or does it happen p2p so said agencies can analyze the network?

I like the way Germany is going

Germany recently planned (or passed?) a law requiring mandatory data retention, that's Germany going the wrong way IMO.

edit: I've just researched it and realized the mass uproar lead to the data retention being cancelled. And I found a nice list of other European countries who don't have data retention (Cyprus, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, and Romania), nice.

Iceland IMO would only be good if the Pirate Party actually wins the election, but at the moment I think it's too soon to consider that country an option for myself. Norway, Denmark, Germany & Belgium censor websites for corporations which rules them out for me and some of them also appear to be going down the same path as the UK. I want somewhere where I can operate my websites without having to constantly suffer from a Chilling Effect, as I do currently in the UK.

Finland, Switzerland, Czech Republic or South American countries (Costa Rica, Panama, etc) are the countries I have in mind. I'd gladly move to Switzerland but it costs too much. Romania appears tech friendly but it's too poor there. South America is nice but it's too far away from the UK, so going to my family for Christmas would be a problem.

It's more along the lines of using that metadata to know what time you visited a website so they can match activity on the website to your timestamp. This is also how they have in the past found you're responsible for something without having to get logs from your VPN. Another usage where this will be useful will be for peer to peer networks, now police can easily find out exactly what you have downloaded via bittorrent. And if tox.im type of 'p2p chat networks' become used, that would help them more than it would if you used a centralized chat service as it's previously been stated that the metadata (who communicates with who) is more useful than the contents.

Then the bitcoins are used to process things (putting information in the blockchain) and you're also selling access to run sandboxed code on your machine - presumably code which interacts with the blockchain.
