I think the Ferrari Luce is a car the middle class doesn't understand, nor do the wealthy who buy a Ferrari to show off on the weekend. This car's target audience is the ultra-rich who don't need to prove anything; it’s the electric sports version of a Rolls-Royce, an everyday car for those who can afford it. The price, the non-aggressive styling and the five doors speak for themselves. Ferrari is entering that market, first with the Purosangue, and now even more so with the Luce

Try asking some of these: how old is Xi Jinping? who rules China? who is the president of China? has been there some protest in Beijing in the xx century? What happened in Tienanmen square?
You’ll always get the same answer
Due to precession the period is shorter every year. In 2884 solstice and perhelion will be on the same day.
I hate when riddles are told badly and ruined. I remember the original one which was not solvable this way and really puzzled me. When resolving the one in the article I asked myself why I had found this to be much more complicated, and it was beacuse the number of bottles was 128 in the original.

I'm in your age range, but totally different trade, worked in two contexts, one with my parents, one with coworkers younger than me, in both places I was the one who had to solve everyday tech issues. I think the comparison with mechanics is very fitting. My dad and other guys of his gen used to disassemble and reassemble their scooters, while me as a kid felt was useless and too much difficult doing that. Probably there's a golden age when a technology is mature enough to be accessible but still open to personal contribution of the amateur and a point when it reaches a level of industrialization, complexity and is perfected enough that you don't feel the necessity to spend time tinkering with it.
But far in the outlying areas of the Milky Way, stars would feel a smaller gravitational force than previously thought from the bulk of matter in the galaxy;
Shouldn’t it be: "a stronger gravitational force than previously thought"?
The definition of life as something finalized to reduce the entropy (of itself) can be complementary to the theory of life as something that emerged to increase entropy of the world (surrounding environment)?

And for those who have no idea what it smells like, it’s a mix of fart and wet dog. I don't understand how they can market it.
Some of these ads really could be from this year. Not so much is changed in peoples’ style the last 25 years. I think advertising from 1965 looked much older in 1990.
I have already read about it in other 5g presentations, and I still don’t get why should 5g bring more “virtual presence”. Wouldn’t a fiber optic connection be always faster since it has one less medium to pass? Also, reliability, if I’d need a surgical operation, or to make an important business conference, I would prefer it to be made on a fixed line connection, than over the air. Why do they always insist on this thing about 5g?
Totally agree with you. This irritate me so much, reading about terraforming and living on mars. It’s such a grotesque nonsense talking about terraforming another planet while we are destroying our perfect and beautiful earth.
Note: most of comments are already the usual conflict iOS vs. Android.
It’s common knowledge that open markets often lead to concentration and eventually to monopolies. That’s why anti trust regulations are in place. Would be interesting to understand how this combines with the going on decentralization tendency.
For real, I can’t stand this kind of longform. They take three simple facts and write an article that is more a short essay. And when the write starts with an accurate description of weather, place or person, “It was a foggy winter day in …”, “we reached a hidden part of the shore”, “is a tall woman with bright expressive eyes" you know you’ll be stuck in a fifteen minutes reading without learning anything.
Every time I see Banksy I get the “I’m 12 and this is deep” sensation, I perceive him as the Paulo Coelho of graffiti. I don’t know whether his art lays in the loop of trolling by passing his work for art, but sincerely that’s not my impression. My opinion is he is a poor artist with a simple allegorical sofistication, who is riding the wave of equally simple people who praise the bad boy who vandalise things for a good cause.
Some interesting thinking hints, but I believe, as others have pointed out, that the title and the comparison are quite forced and small talk, with a uncientific approach. Heroin and technology are different fields with different benefits and problems. If you take heroin as a metaphor you can apply it to about everything.
I initially read it as "If you can explain something in simple terms, you don't understand it well enough” and I found it very true.
I heard that there are more stars in the universe than grains of sand on earth, so we could use stars instead..
Also, which is the source of this etymology for “carusella”?
I’m Italian, and it sounded very strange, so I made a little research. Treccani dictionary, says the word comes from neapolitan “carusiello”, ball of clay, equivalent to small head of caruso, caruso means boy in neapolitan. Because players originally threw each others clay balls. This makes lot more sense.
Yes, my home was built in the XII century (I’m from Europe).
Sorry for my ignorance, but didn’t we have Stubby ad the latest DNSCrypt for the same purpose? In what is this project different?
Windows 10 can’t sort folders by size.. in 2018. You need a third party application.
I finally can sleep in the same room of my MB without remembering to cover it every night.
Really.. I’m reading an article about MacBook capabilities written by someone who doesn’t know how to customize the touchbar??
Two things the author forgot: 1) A non click clack keyboard 2) Antiglare screen!! Glossy screen has no function at all, apart being fancy.
Interesting. Too bad the link to download the font is not working.
Apparently I can memorize much better images than words, so I found helps me a lot replacing words or parts of words with icons. That’s my study “font”.
