As the other replies say, git is already decentralized. What we need is a decentralized way to recognize one of those mirrors as the main one. I think gitchain: http://gitchain.org/ was supposed to solve that.

I don't know what they say, but I do now they have a systemd-shim package that you can use to emulate systemd functionality when you don't use it as the init system. And the sysvinit package hasn't been removed.
