It seems that hardware developers often complain about VHDL and Verilog while continue to use them because they are only actual options vendors support. I found netlist format such as EDIF seems assembly language for hardware, but I also heared that vendors need to produce their own custom netlist from souce of VHDL or Verilog. I suspect that processors could evolved more than pace of Moore's law if tools have accumulated developer's creativity.
