This stuff is always so interesting to me because this is the part/step of solo game-development where people don't make too much content about it online, so you need to find books/scraps of content about rolling your own complex physics engine. It's all knowledge that's stuck in the industry/random github repos it seems.

I'm actually familiar with 4chan and lurked on it when I was underage at least daily. It was funny for the time.

I'm not sure where the idea comes from that the entire site's reputation is containerized inside /pol/ or any NSFW board. It's just misleading if you take 5 minutes to browse around (if you still can, anyway). The language and harassment used in ALL boards of any group of people or individual is disgusting.

Obviously those people will continue to think and exist the way they are. But we can't assume things will slowly start getting better if we continually allow increasingly racist "discourse" and misinformation in our society.

That is a completely separate problem, and it's dishonest making the comparison. Extremist right wing ideology and genocide is actively advocated on /pol/ as well as anti-Jewish rhetoric. Neo-nazism is not pointing out Israel's war crimes, and pointing out Israel's war crimes is not neo-nazism or anti-Jewish. /pol/ isn't antisemitic for Israel's genocide; they just hate Jewish people.

The Trump administration trying to deport people for doing so is also unjustified. People are freely criticizing Israel on other popular social media (notably TikTok and Instagram) without inciting a modern neo-nazi and right wing movement like what has happened on 4chan in the past 10 years.

We've heard it time and time again that 4chan is the so called "last bastion of free speech on the internet" when this so called free speech is just being unapologetically racist and antisemitic. I hope its gone for good.

Interesting take. I believe this is a theme that everyone in the US is familiar with, but the idea that "big money is the enemy" and the reality of it has somehow not permeated through the general public enough. It seems that the Trump-voting public sees the Democrats as compromised rather than the Republicans, but even with this one action by Trump you can argue strongly that they are as well.

I don't disagree with this either. Capitalism requires a constant stream of new people to operate effectively to increase labor output. This is the system we've been dependent on. We wouldn't need a >2.5 birthrate to maintain all of our water, electrical, and communication systems.

We are not overpopulated.

I hate the type of people that hammer the idea that society needs to double or triple the birthrate (Elon Musk), but as it currently stands, countries like South Korea, Japan, USA, China, and Germany risk extinction or economic collapse in 4-5 generations if the birth rate doesn't rise or the way we guarantee welfare doesn't change.

Lol, I've always loved that about physics. Some boltzmann brain type stuff.

The risk is a quantifiable 0.0%? I find that hard to believe. I think the current trends suggest there is a risk that continued environmental destruction could annihilate society.

Civilization has always operated on the idea that men must work for it to function properly. When less people willingly work it can be detrimental for future welfare. The way that unemployment is interpreted by the public now is not very accurate. The gig economy has grown massively since 2020, which counts towards labor statistics, but its arguable to say if they should. The number of small or local owned businesses have grown substantially since 2020 - but is that because of a surplus of opportunity or people looking for ways to make additional money? The quality of the labor matters.

I really like this, I'll maybe use it once I actually get some clients to respond ;)

I tried implementing my own on my own website, but between all my projects and work I keep pushing my own business website backward...
