Because, on average, doing that leads to more sales for Amazon than not doing it. They don't care how any given user (you) responds to it, they care about what increases sales across an extremely large user base. Trust me, they have tested this and it's worth doing for them even if you thin it's pointless.

Amazon still thinks that endlessly recommending me tourniquets, splints, medical scissors, and tactical trauma kits is somehow going to result in more sales.

And that tactic does increase sales for Amazon, on average. Their endless split testing would have long proven that.

How many e-mails could you possibly have that makes trial and error not a good solution in this scenario?

Absolutely. I'm certain it helps SOME people but the claims made by anyone pushing it are absolutely ridiculous. I've yet to meet or hear from a single person who felt any difference from it yet there's shit loads of podcasters and influencers who seem to have amazing results, go figure.

A similar thing is happening to me right now. Me and my Boss are setting up a seperate company with 50/50 equity to attempt the project. He's essentially investing in the company by way of paying me my regular salary as it's being built. If they're offering you no ownership potential it doesn't seem very fair..

All I was pointing out was that being excessively boastful and claiming that everyone, without exception, finds working with you "enormously fulfilling" is just unbecoming. I feel like many will find that distasteful and you should leave other people to rate their interactions with you. I doubt there's a single person in the world who has a 100% success rate with regards to positive social/professional experiences with others...

This is basically a sub reddit. I was just responding to you like I would in conversation, not sure what the medium has to do with it.

If you also act like a cock in person then definitely not. Even the most brilliant people in the world usually have the self awareness to not give themselves glowing reviews, perhaps you're great but have a social blind spot in that regard. If you consistently speak like that in person then many people would not like working with you and that would call your glowing self review into question.

Probably because they're one of the few actually prevelant and real conspiracies within the conspiracy theory world. So many 100% proven examples to point at.

Also, although there's correlation between right wing and conspiracy theories in general, the title is over emphasising that a lot. The interest in the Epstein scandal for example is pretty much universal.

I'm in a team of one.

I develop ERP/MRP integrations for a manufacturing company. So we have an ERP system which we purchased and I build things on top of it to enhance processes within the company. Production trackers, product configurators, issue monitoring, things to speed up engineering management etc. I'm sure there are other roles like this in manufacturing firms because very few of these ERP systems actually do exactly what you want out of the box.

It's good because I'm not just a code monkey. I (and others) identify issues/improvements, I design the solution, I implement the solution and then I train people on how to use it. There's a lot of autonomy.

Having worked in that industry within the UK, these "requirements" are seldom carried out.

I've just gone back to WFO and here are the reasons it sucks for me:

- an extra hour per day getting ready and travelling which increases stress and is ~250 hours per year simply wasted - many people have to waste much more.

- my office has terrible facilities. there is no natural light, heating is inconsistent and it's dusty.

- my office is attached to a factory so i have to listen to lathes running for a full 8 hours per day while i'm trying to solve problems.

- no eating area so i pretty much sit in my car for my lunch break

- people are constantly interrupting me with trivial issues that have absolutely no priority

- i don't really socialise at work much anyway so what's the point? i'm the only developer so there's no benefit from being near a team

Instead I could sit in my office at home with a superior set up, superior comfort, relaxing environment. I can go and have a lie down whenver I want. I can start and finish work at odd times if necessary. I can go to the gym on my lunch break.

It's just no contest for me personally although I must admit the quality of my office environment is certainly below average.

There's a podcast series called "Hunting Warhead" wich documents how the largest child abuse site (sadly had over a million members) was taken over by law enforcement. It turns out they carried on running the site for about a year, even posting child abuse images themselves as the admin to maintain legitimacy. Definitely a moral gray area there. Great podcast series but also made me feel sick and keeps creeping into my head periodically..

Well yeh, that particular idea is not worth it. It's ridiculous. On the other hand in the UK I know people who make huge amounts of tax free money and when they get caught (usually after 5-10 years) they go to prison for a year or two. Not so bad.
