Developers like you are few and far between. I find it painful when others devs constantly re write working code, instead of moving forward. It’s so easy to trash what is there. Very few have the maturity to work with existing code without complaint.

We are much worse off when measuring the amount of time it takes to hit milestones.

The age for all of this has gone up massively. Because it takes much longer to earn enough money to afford to do these things.

Winters in Calgary regularly go to -20c at night with periods of -30 to -40c.

The 90s was peak desktop. Everything was on the local hard drive.

Now everything is back on the mainframe(cloud) i fully expect it to cycle back to the desktop in some form. (we just won’t call it that)

Women are paying a high price in the online dating world. It’s preying on their weakness the same way porn does for men.

Most women don’t want to sleep around and have a large number of partners. But tinder leads them to believe that they can find an unrealistic partner. And they get hurt by the small percentage of men that play the online dating game well.

Women need a lot more data and time to evaluate a potential partner before initiating contact.

Honestly I would like to be in the office as little as possible. I get knowing a person face to face has value, but having a fixed schedule of this would feel artificial and more draining.

That is totally cool with me. As long as I would be able to be fully remote in the same company.

What I need for that is high quality audio and video for meetings.

Yes, at a high enough level of wealth you don’t need to own anything other then controlling shares in a corporation.

Your spending cash is just a loan from a bank to you backed by the value of your corporation.

All major assets are held by the corporation.

A global tax of some kind is the only way to slow the divide. As the growth of wealth is finally taxed, and inflation can start to eat away at it.

While I agree moving to permanent DST is kinda nuts. It’s less nuts then flipping clocks twice a year.

Yes, it feels like the desktop gui framework/language wars that have been raging since the 90s are finally ending.

As a desktop developer working with everything from visual basic, C++ win forms, QT, swing, C#, html and javascript. I could not be happier.

Finally we have a GUI stack where I don’t have to re write everything every 10 years.
