Not sure if this will be answered here. But how is the repair-ability of these new pebble? I have the original pebble time steel and although it still run fine, the battery have degraded a lot without an easy way to replace them. Part of the appeal of traditional watches is that you can open them up yourself and fix them if needed. I don't see why Pebble have go glue everything together and make it so hard to repair.

Need to yell this as loud as possible to the goddamn banking and healthcare industry face then. Cause those dinosaurs don't even let you have an online account without an SMS (and only SMS in most case) as a 2FA mechanism.

Just to shame a few out there right now: Chase, Fidelity, Bank of America, American Express, United Healthcare, Signa and many more.

It's a very, very sad story. It sounds like open-source hardware could have thrived if it weren't for China subsidizing local companies and enforcing bad IP claims for its domestic companies (which was really IP stolen from other countries but filed for patent first in China by Chinese companies).

Why is this China factor even a problem for open-source? The open source community have always been threaten by closed-source copycat. Even western companies also do that without much repercussion. The real threat is, as the article pointed out, the trend of `open source` companies going closed source because of profit motive.

Please excuse my ignorance here, but are you saying that the board makers have no say on what chip they want to incorporate into their board? And those chips firmware are not open or at least accessible to the board makers?

The trajectory seems toward exclusive AR apps is not that strong in my opinion. There are still billions of people out there without access to XR headset and have no incentive to spend upward of thousands of dollar for one yet.

We already have AR/VR (XR) being built into the current web (W3C webxr), and people building out Web based AR. Take a look at 8th Wall.

There will be a long transition period where webxr have the chance to shine and prevent the wall garden future of private apps.

The official stand of Reddit is you are not even allowed to sit passively as a mod. Here is how rule 4 worded

"...This involves regularly monitoring and addressing content in ModQueue and ModMail and, if possible, actively engaging with your community via posts, comments, and voting."

Intentional sabotage is the only option left at this point.

The T480 that I got is the worst laptop purchase I have done in years. The m2 port is not bolt in but you will need to buy an adapter if you want to install a second drive if your configuration is only 1 drive. The USB-C charging port had problem quickly after a year where it don't receive charge unless you put it in the JUST the right position and pray to god that it will keep charging. And the USB-C card is part of the mobo so you are looking at $700-800 mobo swap to fix the problem.
