I've always wanted a sequel (or spiritual successor, or rip-off) of "Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King". It was just a WiiWare game, but I really remember enjoying the building and simulation aspect of controlling RPG characters.

We need this to fit on a single floppy.

You can use `git blame` for who touched a line last, but you should tread lightly with it. If you fix a typo in a comment, move some whitespace, etc, you're now to "blame".

I was suspended in high school for "hacking"; this was in 2000. I added two (crudely named) folders to an old DOS style typing teaching software.

My presentation would have just been "I pressed F10, and typed in bad words", but it would have been preferable to a three day suspension, haha. I hope this is the outcome!

Not me, but my father in law, located in the midwest, is a sql dev. He's about to retire in a few years, switched jobs a few years back. From what he tells me, they didn't care that he was going to retire soon, they needed his skillset.

Location probably matters. My (also midwest) company was foaming at the mouth for a competent Java/SAP developer (which, forgive me for being catty, seems like a technology only a 40+ yr old would fill) a few years ago, never found anybody, position was never filled.

Everybody's taken this to mean that I'd just go around yelling "Dick" every hour on the hour, or that I would be describing last night's penetration to everybody. Of course not.

Yes you would read the room first, but I still think you should have the freedom to express yourself if you're not harming others. Just because you don't like swear words, and you hear one from me, doesn't mean that I'm harming you.

People calling it unprofessional are likely browsing HN or Reddit while at work. Not sure how much that aligns with being professional. By the way, if you're not wearing a suit right now you're being unprofessional. Maybe getting your work done is the only baseline to being professional, and saying "dick" doesn't stop me or you from getting work done.

Changing their behavior, for one person, would be special treatment. And not only that, pandering. By speaking that way, they _were_ treating her as equal.

I think that point is lost in this.

US based, not west coast though. Maybe I'm lucky to work in a place that lets me have some fun. It seems prudish to knock somebody down just because they say "dick" in public.

Of course the other post's experience was horrible. And I know this is a core tenant of not understanding the situation, but it seemed like some of it was purely in jest, and if that poster was a little more... fun? then maybe the post wouldn't exist.

I think a good example is the "Our app is huge, like my dick." line.

As a guy, this line was pretty funny, and I could see myself saying it (on an all male team). I might not say it in front of female coworkers though, but if I worked closely with one I may say it within earshot without thinking about it. It certainly wasn't an attack on the poster.

Are we just not allowed to talk about genitalia? I guess as a baseline rule it's inappropriate, sure, but he's not being suggestive or soliciting. As described, it's obviously a joke. Not sure where the offense is here other than he said "dick" in the workplace within earshot of someone who doesn't want to hear that.

I'll finish by saying that the rest of it was certainly uncalled for, but this one instance doesn't really stand on it's own as offensive.

At a bar, drinking beer? I dunno, sounds like they were joking around. If I can't talk about body parts at a bar while drinking beer, I'm not sure where you can.

Essentially they've stopped working on v3. I don't think they used the words "no longer supported", but that's kind of what has happened.

Dayton OH, no grants or anything. I've listed ITT on my resume, but never had a real discussion with an employer about it. They see Deans List (laughably easy) and just check their box. As the adjacent poster was saying, I may just leave them off future resumes, or put my degree as a footnote. Being a Web Developer for well over 10 years at this point trumps the value of any degree.

I think my only point was that it's _only_ value was what employers thought of them, which had a low rank on the value scale as it was, and now even that's gone. At this point I spent 40k for _literally_ nothing.

Thanks, I took a look, and that's great information for any current student, or students with outstanding loans. However, I was mostly joking; I've actually already paid them off completely, years ago, which wouldn't have been possible without my lovely wife. So the word "refund" was used purposefully, and getting one is likely improbable, haha.

For years it was always a struggle of bashing ITT with my colleagues/the internet, but talking them up with potential employers. The only thing $40k of debt got me was the perceived prestige an employer likely already had of ITT. Now that they're defunct there's definitely no up-selling them.

As a 2005 graduate of ITT, I'm glad. This was a long time coming. Now if only I could get my loans refunded :p

I think Domenic's objection is that it sounds like you're going into, for example, _forms.scss and dropping something unnecessary like the styling of the `output` tag.

Are you instead just going into bootstrap.scss and commenting out entire includes?

The former implies a lot of surgery and the latter is definitely more manageable, but could still suffer from the project abandonment he brought up.

Nice list, for just names it's a great resource. I see some umlauts, spaces in names, punctuation in names, and it's clearly splittable for first/last name fields. I'm not sure what other ground could be covered that someone would need to account for.

I'm not "book" cultured, so a lot of names I don't recognize, but nice shout outs to 30 Rock and Anchorman :p

Github complains that it's not a properly formatted CSV file. Maybe consider a TSV? It'd probably still complain.

I was a sophomore in 99. I was suspended for 3 days for "hacking" our keyboarding software. It was an old blue-screen'd DOS application. My friend and I figured out that F10 (or something) created a new folder. I made at least two, named "school grades" and "top porn stars" (Hey, I was a teenager). My friend did the same on his, but I think his was just "school grades" and "porn". They claimed that we were trying to alter our grades with those folders. We were A/B students, so that didn't really pan out.

Getting in trouble for it wasn't really a deterrent, but then again, I wasn't arrested. It probably would have stopped me from ever fiddling with a machine if I had been.

This seems a bit backwards. Would there be a reason to not just bring like 100 gallons with them and fill it up on the spot? Why risk giving your car to someone when the opposite seems just as feasible?

Just to add, I think a lot of people would just google "ford" or "nissan" when trying to find info about their cars. Some of us might make assumptions, and if it fails (like expecting cars at nissan.com), your next step would be to google it.
